Chapter 163
While being held by Do Jeonghan and surrendering to the gentle touch of his hand stroking her hair,
‘But really… is it okay?’
Is it okay for me to stay by your side?
Every time you see me, won’t it remind you of that incident? Won’t it make you relive that painful wound for the rest of your life?
Her heart felt even heavier because she hadn’t yet asked him exactly what Seol Hee-nam had done.
What if, like with my mom, I’m being selfish and cruel to you as well?
What if, in the name of love, I’m doing something unforgivable…
“Seol Suhyeon.”
Jeonghan lifted Suhyeon’s face. Her tear-filled, transparent eyes met his gaze up close.
Wiping the moisture from her eyes, Jeonghan spoke.
“I always tell you.”
His gaze, fixed on her eyes, was deep and unwavering.
“Look only at me.”
“……”
Without answering, Suhyeon met Jeonghan’s gaze. Her uncertain eyes were met with his steady and firm stare.
“No matter the situation, only me. You don’t need to see or think about anything else.”
“……”
It was as if Jeonghan could read everything in Suhyeon’s mind, and he spoke as if he knew it all.
His unwavering gaze filled Suhyeon’s chest.
“Just keep your eyes on me. Think only of me. Don’t think about anything
else.”
Only me.
With a voice thick with possessiveness, Jeonghan captured Suhyeon’s lips and sucked them in.
Suhyeon closed her eyes. His tongue pushed its way into her willingly parted lips. As the kiss deepened, Jeonghan climbed on top of her.
In her view were the eyes of a man now radiating a different heat than before.
Eyes burning with desire, wanting her.
“……Hold me.”
At Suhyeon’s words, spoken through her teary gaze, Jeonghan’s eyes sank even darker.
It was as if a scorching fireball was burning within his pupils.
Jeonghan grabbed her legs and spread them wide.
In the next moment, as he said, Suhyeon could think of nothing else.
* * * * *
Manager Lee and Seol Hee-nam were meeting secretly in a private room.
Manager Lee placed a carry-on suitcase on the table.
“It’s 1 billion won, prepared as an advance payment. Please confirm it.”
“Click.”
The suitcase opened, revealing a stack of fifty-thousand-won bills packed inside. Seol Hee-nam’s lips twitched upward briefly before falling back down.
He raised the whiskey glass in his hand to his lips and took a long drink before looking at Manager Lee.
“So, the rest will be given after the job is done?”
“If everything goes as planned and Do Jeonghan is dismissed from the board, we’ll provide it then,”
Manager Lee replied.
Seol Hee-nam gave a half-hearted nod.
“Well, fine. For now, I’ll take this to make do.”
As Seol Hee-nam closed the suitcase and pulled it toward himself, Manager Lee spoke.
“Once the article is released tomorrow, you’ll receive numerous requests for
media interviews. You must not respond to anyone outside the outlets we’ve arranged.”
“Of course, and I already know what to say, so don’t worry.”
“That’s reassuring. Thanks to the excellent information you provided, things are progressing more smoothly.”
“Well, I just did my part, that’s all,” Seol Hee-nam replied with a sly smile.
Manager Lee stood up.
“Then I’ll be in touch again.”
With a polite nod, Manager Lee left the room.
“Click.”
As the door closed and Seol Hee-nam was left alone, he poured himself another glass of whiskey and downed it.
Do Cheoljun had sent Manager Lee to approach Seol Hee-nam in order to
steal Do Jeonghan’s successor position.
Seol Hee-nam, fully aware of their intentions, played along with their scheme, participating in the effort to demonize Do Jeonghan. It was the only way to ensure his own safety.
From the moment Seol Hee-nam learned that Do Jeonghan was also Lee Suho, he had no choice but to align with Do Cheoljun.
‘That bastard Do Cheoljun better handle this properly… Something feels off about him.’
Seol Hee-nam clenched his teeth tightly.
It made no sense that they hadn’t known about Do Jeonghan’s orphanage background.
When he passed that information to Manager Lee, Do Cheoljun insisted on hearing it directly and invited him to a dinner meeting.
At that meeting, Seol Hee-nam realized Do Cheoljun was noticeably inferior to Do Jeonghan in every way.
‘Sure, I sold that information for a high price, but… I can’t shake this uneasy feeling.’
Frowning, Seol Hee-nam downed his whiskey in one gulp and poured himself another drink.
……Pause.
His hand froze in mid-air as he poured. Something ominous surfaced in his mind.
‘So, that means it really was Do Jeonghan, doesn’t it?’
