“You should remember what I said.’’

His words, cold and calculated, lingered in the air as he turned away. The security guards grabbed him again as he was about to speak.

“Ah, no…….’’

Caught off guard, he was dragged out without much resistance.

As he recalled that day, Hee-nam gripped the whiskey bottle tightly. There was strength in his alcohol-clouded eyes.

‘Was it Lee Cheol-eum and Han Eunju that bastard mentioned back then?’

Or could it be that Do Jeonghan also sent Oh Kyung-hee?

Hee-nam, with an anxious expression, poured the whiskey until it overflowed in the glass and downed it in one gulp.

Tak!

Slamming the glass down hard, Seol Hee-nam’s eyes glistened.

“S**t, what does it matter? Do Jeonghan will fall to ruin this time anyway!”

Once that prized successor position is snatched away, Do Jeonghan will be powerless, so there’s nothing to worry about.

The plan Do Cheoljun had prepared would explode tomorrow.

Even so, an unexplainable anxiety surged within him, and Seol Hee-nam glared into the void, continuously refilling and downing his glass.

When the drunken Seol Hee-nam stumbled in, Park In-ok snatched the carrier as if seizing it.

Seol Hana hadn’t returned home yet, but thinking there might be a chance, she quickly walked into the master bedroom, closed the door, and opened the bag.

Seeing the bundle of fifty-thousand won bills stuffed inside, Park In-ok’s face lit up with joy.

“How much is this?”

“10 billion.”

Park In-ok froze for a moment, then sharply turned to look at Seol Hee-nam.

Her eyes were brimming with dissatisfaction.

“Surely, this isn’t all of it, right?”

Seol Hee-nam, taking off his suit jacket, replied in a weary tone.

“When Do Jeonghan is finally ousted from the board, they’ll give the rest.”

“Ah, I see.”

Only then did Park In-ok look relieved, shifting her gaze back to the stacks of bills.

“No wonder. For someone about to become the head of Cheonkyung, this is absurdly stingy. What are we supposed to do with this? If we back out, they’re finished too.”

“……”

Without a response, Seol Hee-nam loosened the tie he had already slackened.

Counting the money inside, Park In-ok spoke.

“Well, it’s enough to start looking for a new house in Gangnam and put down a deposit. I was wondering how long we’d have to live in a place like this. Moving should come first. Oh, and our Hana hasn’t been able to go shopping. We should treat her to a shopping spree for once.”

Holding a bundle of bills, Park In-ok laughed brightly. Watching her, Seol Hee-nam furrowed his brows.

“But, you know.”

“Yes?”

With a face flushed from handling money for the first time in a while, she asked back. Seol Hee-nam squinted and stared at Park In-ok.

“Do you think Do Jeonghan will take this lying down?”

“Do Jeonghan? Why him?”

When Park In-ok blinked in confusion, Seol Hee-nam frowned.

“Do Jeonghan knows what we did.”

“Oh, Lee Cheol-eum’s son? Because of that?”

As if recalling something, Park In-ok twisted her lips.

“Even so, unless Chairman Do Pil-yong were alive, what power does Do Jeonghan have now that the old man is dead?”

Scoffing slightly, Park In-ok remained focused on counting the money.

“Still, do you think the board will cut him out that easily?”

“No matter how much money he spent crafting a polished public image, people must’ve already suspected something after that humiliating divorce. Now, if something like this comes to light? On top of that, he’s an orphanage kid. Spread rumors about dirty bloodlines, and his reputation will be in ruins in no time.”

“…Is that so?”

Rubbing his chin, Seol Hee-nam muttered. Park In-ok, as if to reassure him, continued.

“Think about it. How long ago was that incident? Over 20 years ago, right? If there were any evidence, it would’ve come out already. Do you think Do Jeonghan would’ve stayed quiet until now?”

“That’s true.”

Seol Hee-nam nodded. With a delighted expression, Park In-ok continued in a sing-song tone.

“If he wanted revenge, he wouldn’t be marrying Seol Soo-hyun; he would’ve had you locked up. How old was Do Jeonghan back then? What evidence could he possibly have? What could a kid that young do?”

At the time, Do Jeonghan had seemed to be about five or six years old…

While Seol Hee-nam was recalling his age, Park In-ok spoke sharply, as if scolding him.

“Stop worrying about useless things and focus on preparing for your media interview. It’s important.”

“Got it.”

Seol Hee-nam nodded in response and began unbuttoning the rest of his shirt.

Listening to Park In-ok’s words gave him a sense of relief.

Really, what could he have done at that age? Even if he remembered, there’s no evidence. How could anyone find proof from 25 years ago?

Besides, if he did have evidence, as Park In-ok said, seeking revenge through marrying Seol Soo-hyun would be odd. There are so many simpler and more direct methods.

‘Do Jeonghan must not have any evidence after all.’

With a sinister smile, Seol Hee-nam grinned slyly.
