Yes. She was a woman crazy in love. She never actually wanted to become a scholar just because she liked someone. And she wasn’t a genius either. But she still went to grad school for math.
Later she found out the senior she’d admired so much was absolute garbage, but what can you do about a life already twisted out of shape? You just keep going down the path you’ve set yourself on. She swore she’d never let a man interfere with a major life decision again. She really thought she could stick to it.
But a person’s nature doesn’t change.
When she died in an accident, got reborn, and found out she was the ninth princess of the Kailestia royal family, she thought only flower petals lined the road ahead.
She had twelve other siblings, so she wasn’t the adored youngest or the much-anticipated eldest. Just a middle child. Nothing special above or below. And she had no complaints about it.
Far from the throne? Even better.
Smaller inheritance? Still royalty even if you scrape the bottom. As long as she could blast the heat all winter, that was enough. And since it was a magic world, cooling was covered too.
Her older sisters handled all the urgent political marriages. Her brothers were thrown into royal duties. The youngest ones took care of the public charm and the filial piety.
Her rights, her duties, her presence. All of it was vague.
Perfect.
Isn’t there a Korean saying? The ideal life is humble contentment. The core of it being, if you have enough to get by, don’t work. Just live as a free soul.
Have you seen anyone spend ten years building a little three-room house tucked into nature, only to go work for the neighbor’s farm to get straw for the roof? Or fishing in a riverside village, stomping their feet with worry that if they catch nothing today, they’ll starve?
Now this, this was humble contentment. Larissa decided she would never work a day in her life, get three meals handed to her, and just read novels until she died.
Until she met a man worth dedicating her life to.
And that man was the head mage of the Eternal Phase Magic Tower.
So she joined the Eternal Phase Magic Tower.
Why did she do the same insane thing twice? When you fall for someone, aren’t you supposed to practice your prettiest smile, walk right up, and flirt?
So why was it that she always wanted to know about the thing he was so devoted to? The field he’d dedicated his whole life to? Finding out if he liked tea or coffee would probably get her a date way faster.
A person’s nature simply refuses to stay hidden.
