Chapter 23
Not knowing his inner thoughts, Anne calmly wiped the pale fluid from her face with her hand. The texture was unfamiliar. Sniff, sniff. Even the smell was strange. Anne frowned and wiped her palm on the carpet.
The sudden shower of s***n wasn’t pleasant, but he had managed to e*******e. It was an achievement she had every reason to feel proud of. To be precise, she had caused the problem and then fixed it.
It should have been a situation to celebrate, yet Logan couldn’t bring himself to lift his head. Anne tilted her head as she looked at the man trembling faintly.
What’s up with him?
She cautiously opened her mouth as she checked his condition.
“Um, you seem… healthy…?”
At her words, Logan slightly raised his head from where it had been bowed. Then he glared at her with a frightening look. His eyes, which had always seemed cold, now burned like blue flames.
Anne’s once-confident shoulders shrank again. She didn’t know why, but it seemed she had made him angry. She had even sacrificed her whole body, no, her whole mouth, to fix him.
For a while after that, Logan couldn’t speak. His emotions were too tangled, and he repeatedly rubbed his lower face. As his body slowly cooled, reality finally began to settle in.
How did it turn out like this. He had clearly intended to solve the issue through conversation, but the conversation had failed, and the problem… had been solved. Yet instead of feeling relieved, he only felt miserable.
Pressing his throbbing forehead with his fingertips, Logan spoke.
“Anne. Agnes. Avery.”
“Yes.”
At the full name loaded with pressure, Anne shrank again. It felt a little unfair, but this didn’t seem like a moment to talk back carelessly.
Instead of continuing right away, Logan let out a heavy sigh. His heart was still racing. And what drove him nearly mad was that while the outside of his body was cooling, the inside still burned with heat. It felt as if some evil spirit inside him had awakened.
Unable to fully control his emotions, he spoke word by word.
“I clearly told you… to stop…”
“Gosh. You liked it though.”
Anne replied shamelessly. She couldn’t help it if it sounded brazen. If his claim about not functioning as a man had been true, then she had fixed him. She had properly taken responsibility.
But Logan’s expression didn’t look right. Feeling awkward, Anne rubbed the back of her neck. No matter how good her intentions were, it had been rather one-sided. She offered an insincere apology.
“Um. Ah. Well. Sorr—”
Suddenly, Logan stood up.
Anne quickly stood as well.
Facing each other, the difference in size was obvious. Anne shrank a little. Not that she thought she would lose if they actually fought, but using force against the prince didn’t seem wise. If she injured him again, she might really be executed this time.
Logan strode forward.
This time Anne stepped back.
One step. Another step.
After only a few steps, her legs hit the bed. But compared to her height, the bed was too tall. Instead of sitting down, her upper body fell backward completely.
“Ugh!”
Before Anne could get up, Logan moved faster. He climbed onto the bed on his knees.
More precisely, over her.
He planted his hands on either side of her head. Without caring that his robe was wide open, he stared down at her. It was a rather ridiculous sight, but Anne couldn’t laugh. His eyes clearly looked a little unhinged, and laughing now seemed dangerous.
Let’s try to resolve this peacefully.
Watching his expression, Anne carefully spoke.
“Um, Your Highness… if you stay like that, you’ll catch a cold—”
“Shut it.”
“Yes.”
Anne immediately shut her mouth.
But the silence didn’t last long.
Logan lifted the troublesome layers of her dress. He raised not only the outer skirt but also the full petticoats at once, then ran his hand along her calves wrapped in thin stockings.
What is he trying to do now.
Anne cautiously raised her hand as if asking permission.
“Uh, I was trying to stay quiet, but… what are you planning to do?”
“What do you think.”
Logan removed her garter. Then he gripped the inside of her bare thigh.
Anne reflexively frowned. Only then did she notice his e******n again.
It seemed she had unintentionally removed the seal that had been placed on it.
If so, his intention was obvious.
As if driving the point home, Logan responded to her assumption.
“You have to take ‘responsibility’ for me, Anne Agnes Avery.”
