Chapter 52
It was only her suspicion, but something else was changing her husband.
At that moment, Sylvia sharply mentioned the blindfold.
“Why do you always cover my eyes during… s*x?”
Her husband wasn’t a showy man, nor was he lacking in self-confidence. Before and after losing his memory, he was not the type to cover a partner’s eyes during s*x just because his g******s looked ugly.
Yet he was obsessive about this matter. His behavior seemed to show that he was hiding something significant. He slowly responded with a puzzled “Hmm?” Sylvia stared directly at him and spoke.
“You heard me.”
“Hmm… you’re really that curious?”
“Yes. If you don’t answer honestly, I will tell the Crown Prince about this.”
Both Sylvia and Lancart knew the Crown Prince was not on her side. Though the threat was ridiculous, the tense atmosphere in the room remained unbroken. Kuinan noticed her resolve and realized she truly suspected him. He dropped his playful tone somewhat.
“You shouldn’t dig into secrets like that. Don’t you want to live long?”
When Sylvia threatened Lancart and when he threatened her, the weight of their words was entirely different. Sylvia was like a frightened mouse hissing at a cat, while he held the power and might of a great predator who could swallow her whole at any moment.
Sylvia didn’t particularly want to live long, but as long as her family was alive, she didn’t want to die right now. So she couldn’t help but be shaken by his serious threat. Though she tried to gather her resolve, the tension slowly drained from her until she couldn’t maintain a sharp atmosphere.
Finally, she spoke up.
“You’ve done things to me.”
He was the one who had repeatedly damaged her body from the inside—on that day a month ago, and several times before—using strange methods beyond her understanding. She still didn’t know if he used his own body or some other bizarre means.
She just wanted even a small clue. Above all, she needed to understand why she had been feverish for so long. She believed the misshapen parts of her body would return to normal over time. But the internal changes happening now felt like a terrible omen.
“You don’t like that your private parts have grown?”
“That’s… not what I mean. I’m talking about everything that happened that day. What you intentionally did to me, step by step.”
His s****l tastes might be unusual, but his calculated actions were too deliberate to be mere quirks. He had ruined her exactly as he wanted, in exactly the way he wanted—and every day, he took pleasure in observing her condition.
“Still aching and hurting today?”
For a month and nights, Sylvia’s real doctor had been her husband. He came several times a day to her room, asking where it hurt and what was uncomfortable. Whether she answered or not, he read the answers from her eyes and was satisfied on his own.
“It’s changing well.”
He thought she didn’t notice his muttering, but she heard it clearly.
That one phrase chilled her more than his attitude. What did he mean by ‘changing well’ ? What had he done to turn her into this? If he didn’t tell her by today, she would escape this castle no matter what.
Seeing her resolute gaze, Lancart sighed in displeasure and gruffly said:
“Fine. I’ll tell you one thing.”
To explain the strange symptoms to his wife without revealing he was a monster, he had to mix in some lies. Even giving a little truth should be enough to move her. If Hector found out he spilled such crucial information to a human, his limbs would be cut to pieces again.
“I actually remember what happened in the swamp.”
Watching her pale, shocked face, he rolled a bottle of medicine in his hand, took a handful, and swallowed it all at once. Then his three-century-old cunning tongue spun a web of lies.
