Chapter 117
“Plan? What plan?”
At Grizelle’s question, Arendtert made an irritated face. He opened his mouth, then spoke as if he were doing her a favor.
“A Maw already opened on the first day. A huge one. Euclid is either dead or at the very least injured. All I have to do is stay here for a day and then catch a couple of wandering monsters as they come by.”
“A Maw opened? When?”
Grizelle asked in alarm. Arendtert looked at her with a gaze full of contempt.
“You were sprawled out asleep in the carriage, so of course you didn’t see it.”
Grizelle closed her mouth, unable to refute him. Sharing a carriage with Arendtert was such torture that she had intentionally tried to sleep. She couldn’t bring herself to admit that to his face, so she changed the subject.
“You knew the Maw would open? How did you know?”
“My mother told me. That a big one would open on the first day of the competition.”
Grizelle frowned. So the whispering between the Empress and Arendtert, while blocking her ears and mouth, had been about this plan.
‘What? It wasn’t even something I couldn’t hear. Then why did they do that?’
Could it really have been just spite?
If it came to Cressida and Arendtert, that was fully possible. When they were in a bad mood, they had hit Grizelle simply because she was near them.
And so when they covered her ears and mouth back then, it must have been without any meaningful reason.
If anything, it was probably just because they wanted to torment her.
“Your Highness, the tent is ready!”
As Grizelle stood in silence staring at Arendtert, Lionel approached and reported. Arendtert stretched with a groan about his stiff body and headed toward the tent. When Grizelle tried to go with him, he shoved her away.
“Where do you think you’re going, huh. Just curl up and sleep anywhere.”
In front of the Holy Knights, Arendtert talked down to Grizelle and dismissed her. He showed no concern for her position or dignity.
Leaving Grizelle behind with her face flushing red from humiliation, he swaggered into the tent.

“Mmh…”
Sylaria let out a faint groan and stirred. She had fallen into deep sleep right after the purification, almost as if she had lost consciousness. Her body, soaked in sweat and unidentifiable fluids, was now fresh and clean. Euclid must have washed her.
Euclid always did that. After sleeping together, he always washed Sylaria carefully as though tending to a baby. No matter how messy things had been, when she woke, her body was always clean as if none of it had happened.
“You’re awake?”
While Sylaria slowly blinked her eyes, a gentle voice reached her. It was Euclid. Wearing fresh clothes, he helped her sit up.
“I was just about to wake you. How did you know to get up at the perfect moment?”
Euclid gazed at Sylaria with a look full of affection. She took the cup of water he offered and moistened her throat, rubbing her eyes.
“Why were you going to wake me?”
“We have to return to the palace.”
“Already?”
Sylaria widened her eyes in surprise. Then she parted her lips slightly and lowered her voice.
“Did I sleep for a long time?”
“Only one day has passed.”
“Then why are we returning so quickly?”
“Hahaha.”
Euclid laughed softly as he looked at her. He tucked her hair behind her ear and spoke in a reassuring tone.
“I’ll tell you once we get back to the palace. It’s nothing to worry about, so don’t make such a serious face.”
Sylaria tilted her head to both sides. But soon, with Euclid’s help, she began to change her clothes. Working her small head hard to figure out what reason there could be to return early if there was nothing to worry about.

Boom!
When Euclid’s group arrived in the capital, fireworks burst into the sky. It was the signal that the Crown Prince Selection had ended.
“Your Highness the Crown Prince! Congratulations!”
The people welcomed the First Prince’s entourage with cheers. Petals fluttered in the air, and lively music played.
The welcome was grand, as if greeting warriors returning victorious from war. Euclid waved to the crowd as he received their welcome. At the sight of the dignified new Crown Prince, the citizens rejoiced and offered their blessings.

He’s officially crown Prince? When did this final decision happen? I feel like I’ve missed something… is this because everyone somehow found out that he closed the maw? I mean, they aren’t even married yet and I thought THAT would make him with the CP selection, and that he JUST began to gather supporters… but now he’s CP already?! I’m lost. Hopefully it’ll be explained next chapter
