“My fiancée. Who says she’s my fiancée!”

Arendtert shouted furiously. When he glared at Sylaria in a burst of anger, Euclid stepped forward and warned him.

“Watch your words and actions toward the Crown Prince’s people. Even my patience has limits.”

Pressed down by Euclid’s overwhelming presence, Arendtert flinched. He cleared his throat and turned his head away.

“Anyway, this woman isn’t my fiancée or anything anymore.”

“Aren!”

Face swollen and covered in blood, Grizelle cried out in despair. But Arendtert didn’t even look at her.

Cressida was no different. Sylaria stared sharply at her, as if unable to understand how she could be enjoying the situation so leisurely.

‘This really isn’t the time for Your Majesty to be relaxed.’

Aria had already been helped up by an attendant. Leaving the sobbing and defeated Grizelle as she was, Sylaria spoke.

“I understand the situation well enough. So, Lady Aria has never once conveyed to me that Grizelle was pregnant, and never said she miscarried either. Is that correct?”

“That’s right.”

Aria lifted her chin stiffly as she spoke. She seemed absolutely convinced that the Empress would protect her, and she lied without even a hint of hesitation.

“In that case, are you saying I invented a story you never told me?”

“I understand how you’d feel. Lady Grizelle Willoughby has tormented you so much. Of course you’d want to take revenge. Although it’s a bit excessive to barge into the Second Prince’s bedchamber while His Highness was away.”

“So you’re telling me I came in on my own to torment Grizelle and caused this mess.”

“If not, it doesn’t make sense, does it? You aren’t going to insist that I was the one who came to see you, are you? We aren’t even that close, are we?”

At Aria’s retort, Sylaria smiled. When she stayed calm instead of snapping back in anger, Aria’s expression twisted.

“Why are you smiling?”

“Because it’s funny.”

Sylaria let out a small laugh, then looked toward the corridor. At that moment, Cora, who had been waiting outside, entered the room. She had followed Sylaria all the way here but had been forced to remain outside because she was subdued by force.

After Euclid arrived later and freed her, Cora had been monitoring the situation from the corridor. Sylaria directed a question toward Cora, who bowed lightly to her.

“Cora, who do you think is lying among them?”

“Lady Aria.”

“But this woman is your head maid, Miss Sylaria. Of course she’d take your side.”

Even at Cora’s statement, Aria replied with practiced ease. As she continued to insist, Cora let out a sigh.

“There will be entry records for when Lady Aria came to see you last time, as well as today. His Highness the Crown Prince ordered that the security around each palace be strict, so we record everything without exception.”

As Cora explained calmly, Aria’s eyes shook violently. Everything she said was true. Sylaria had previously asked Euclid to restrict Grizelle’s movements. He had stationed guards at the Second Prince’s residence and strengthened the security around the place Sylaria was staying.

When Sylaria and Cora ran in after chasing Aria earlier, there had definitely been guards present. They would have recorded the entry, so evidence existed even without Cora’s testimony.

“Well, Aria. Should we have them bring the records?”

“Even if I went to see you, that doesn’t prove anything! What’s so strange about moving between palaces!”

“Aria, you just said it yourself. We aren’t even that close.”

“……!”

At Sylaria’s sharp pursuit, Aria’s mouth fell open. Having fallen into the trap of her own words, she fidgeted nervously and bit her lip.

“Th, that’s. That’s because…”

“I’m listening, so go on.”

“Yes, go on and spit it out. I’m curious to see what wordplay you’ll try this time.”

Standing in front of Sylaria, Euclid snapped coldly. Crushed by the Crown Prince’s frigid stare, Aria squeezed her eyes shut and shouted.

“I only did what I was told!”

At Aria’s confession, Cressida’s face, which had been leisurely watching the scene unfold, hardened with icy sharpness. Sylaria didn’t miss the faint twitch at the corner of her eye.
