‘Sillie, you. It’s getting harder and harder for you to purify me. How long were you planning to hide it?’

Her head burned at Arendtert’s unchanged behavior. Sylaria’s body trembled with fury.

When she shook, Euclid silently took her hand. Feeling his warmth, Sylaria barely managed to regain her reason, and she steadied her breathing little by little.

Even then, Arendtert and Grizelle continued arguing. Grizelle glared at him with wide, furious eyes.

“The matching rate dropped because of you! Because you don’t love me!”

“Are you seriously trying to blame me right now?”

Sylaria closed her eyes. Arendtert was beyond saving. No matter who his partner was, he would betray them in the end.

In her previous life, he had acted as if he and Grizelle shared some profound destined love, calling her his lover, his Purifier.

But in this life, even though he was tied to Grizelle from the start, he wasn’t satisfied with her.

He clung to Sylaria, whom he didn’t even love, acting as if she were his fated one. Even after being paired once more with Grizelle, his previous-life lover, he didn’t feel joy. Instead, he only rushed to display anger.

Arendtert was never going to be satisfied.

That was what she finally understood. Sylaria opened her eyes as she etched this painfully clear truth into her heart.

The subtle criticisms and belittling remarks he had whispered to her in their past life had all been nothing but nonsense. He had a warped view where he exaggerated the faults of others far more than their strengths.

So now, she would let all of Arendtert’s insults drift away. They weren’t worth holding in her heart anymore.

“Then whose fault is it? Look at what’s become of me because of you. Look at the state I’m in!”

“It’s your fault. Why blame someone else?”

Arendtert spoke as if it were someone else’s problem and shoved Grizelle away. When he snapped his fingers, attendants stepped forward.

“By Her Majesty the Empress’s command, carry out Grizelle Willoughby’s punishment.”

“No! Let me go!”

Grizelle thrashed wildly as the strong attendants grabbed her arms. Twisting her body in frantic resistance, she suddenly looked toward Sylaria and shouted.

“Sillie, Sillie! Save me! SILLIE!”

Sylaria let out a short laugh at Grizelle’s shameless plea for help. Even if the Empress and Arendtert had been behind it, Grizelle was the one who had actually put the plan into motion.

How long had it been since she had tried to coax Wilder into killing her? And now she dared to ask Sylaria to save her. There was no thicker shamelessness in existence.

“What are you doing, Sillie! Are you just going to watch me die?!”

Dragged forward, Grizelle planted her feet and yelled desperately. Sylaria only stared at her coolly and said nothing.

When Sylaria showed no reaction, a nervous Grizelle looked at her with pleading eyes.

“Sillie, please. We’re like sisters. You’ll regret this if you let them take me. Don’t pretend to be cold. Hurry and say you’ll forgive me, Sillie!”

Sylaria laughed softly. How absurd that she wasn’t apologizing but demanding forgiveness. Even now, Sylaria could feel how Grizelle still looked down on her.

Since childhood, Sylaria had always given Grizelle her best. But Grizelle had taken her kindness lightly and dismissed her. Sylaria hoped she’d at least now realize how precious and rare kindness from others was.

Even if she didn’t realize it, it didn’t matter. They would not be tied to each other any longer.

“Farewell, Grizelle.”

Sylaria offered her a fresh, relieved smile. When she signaled the attendants, they tightened their grip and dragged Grizelle away. Grizelle, bracing herself with all her strength, could not overcome their physical force in the end and was pulled along.

“Sillie, you’ll regret this. You’ll regret it!”

No. There would be nothing to regret. If anything, she regretted not getting rid of Grizelle sooner.

Sylaria watched Grizelle grow farther away and laughed coldly. Even at the very end, she didn’t repent. She only hurried to hurl curses.

It was just like Grizelle.

And her end, too, would suit a woman who had committed evil without hesitation.

It would be the most wretched and the most terrible.

Okay, so they are basically just going to ignore the fact that the empress’s number one maid is the one who lured her there? This can’t just end like this, especially after the maw appeared. It’s ridiculous. AT LEAST THREATEN THEM!!! Do something!!!
