Sylaria rushed to Elenia’s side in a panic. Behind her, Euclid and the attendants came pouring into the room.

“Open the windows, now!”

As Euclid gave the order to ventilate the room, Sylaria shoved Grizelle away from her sister. Then she gently stroked Elenia’s trembling back.

“It’s alright, Ellie. It’s alright.”

“Haa… haah… S-Sister…”

Tears streamed down Elenia’s cheeks as she clung to Sylaria. Her frail body convulsed with each breath, and just then, Cyan approached with a medical bag in hand.

“Allow me.”

Cyan swiftly opened his bag and checked Elenia’s condition. Placing a breathing apparatus to her nose, he helped regulate her breathing until the spasms slowly subsided.

Before long, her breaths grew steady again, her eyelids fluttered shut, and she went limp in her sister’s arms. Sylaria looked down at her unconscious sister with deep concern.

“Will she be alright?”

“Let’s move her to the bed first. I’ll run a more thorough examination.”

At Cyan’s words, the attendants carefully lifted Elenia and laid her on the bed. He immediately began checking her condition in detail at her side.

“Let me go! What’s wrong with you people?!”

Sylaria turned at the sound of Grizelle’s furious shouting. Her jaw clenched tight as she glared and strode toward her then struck her across the face.

“Ah! Are you insane?!”

“You’re the one who’s insane! What did you just do?!”

Sylaria screamed at Grizelle, whose cheek had reddened but who still shouted back in defiance. Rage filled Sylaria’s eyes, and tears welled up.

“Because of you, I almost lost Ellie. Were you trying to kill her? You were actually going to—!”

“I didn’t do anything!”

Struggling against the attendants restraining her, Grizelle snapped irritably. She writhed to free herself, shouting all the while.

“She had a fit all on her own! Why are you trying to pin this on me?!”

“She just suddenly had a fit, you’re saying?”

“Of course! How could I possibly make her have one?”

“The moment you came in here, the smell of your perfume filled the entire room!”

“So what?”

Grizelle retorted shamelessly, even feigning disbelief.

“Am I not allowed to wear perfume now? Stop making things up.”

“Elenia has trauma associated with roses. Just the scent alone can trigger an attack.”

“I didn’t know.”

Grizelle lifted her chin, feigning ignorance, her tone almost daring. As if she hadn’t been there and hadn’t seen it happen with her own eyes when Elenia’s trauma was born.

“And do you have any idea how frightened I was when she started convulsing? I’m the one who deserves an apology.”

Her twisted logic was absurd, but Sylaria didn’t flinch. She’d seen this kind of brazen denial before.

Hadn’t it been the same in their past life? Grizelle had shamelessly justified her own adultery with Sylaria’s husband.

‘If anything, you should be thanking me, Syllie.’

‘I purified your husband for you, didn’t I?’

She had spouted nonsense then, just as she did now.

“…You really haven’t changed, Grizelle. How can someone stay this vilely consistent?”

Sylaria’s voice was icy as she clenched her fist. Grizelle blinked, unbothered.

“Anyway, I said I didn’t know. So let me go already.”

The audacious reply made Sylaria grit her teeth in fury. But right then, Euclid stepped forward while holding up the paper bag that had fallen to the floor.

“Explain this.”

“It’s a cookie bag. Can’t you tell?”

Grizelle’s tone was flippant, as though he’d asked the most ridiculous question. She jerked her chin toward the crumbs inside.

“I brought them for Ellie. I spilled them when I tried to help her. I was trying to help, but of course, everyone assumes the worst…”

“And this?”

Euclid covered the opening of the bag with his hand and turned it upside down. A fine white powder spilled into his palm. As he held it up before her eyes, Grizelle’s pupils trembled violently.

“T-That’s…”

“Why would something like this be in a cookie bag?”

“S-Sugar! It’s powdered sugar!”

“Really?”

“Yes!”

Grizelle forced a shaky smile, baring her teeth in a grin that almost looked triumphant, utterly convinced she’d talked her way out of it.

But Euclid didn’t back down so easily. Bringing the same hand that had hovered near Grizelle’s face up to his lips, he said quietly,

“Then eat it.”

Author makes two basic personalities in the women characters it seems. Stupid and kind vs nasty and stupid. Everyone has either as a base before events add spice. Guess the intelligence that keeps this Kingdom running is on a few male individuals. Sad really...
