“Nick.”

The clinic wasn’t far away.

Nicholas, who was attending to a patient, greeted Amber with a slightly surprised expression. No matter how much she tried to hide it, her emotional turmoil was evident to an old friend.

“What’s the matter?”

“I just felt dizzy and fainted. I think I need to be examined.”

“Why didn’t you call for me?”

“I wanted to see the clinic.”

Amber replied, gesturing for Raphael to wait outside. She then passed by the patients lying on the beds and headed deeper into the clinic.

There was a small space Nicholas used as an office where they could close the door and talk privately.

“Is there really something wrong?”

Once it was quiet, Nicholas asked seriously.

Amber gazed at him for a moment before picking up a quill and writing on the paper laid out on the table.

[Can you check if I’m pregnant?]

Nicholas nodded immediately.

Amber sat in silence, waiting, as one minute felt like a thousand years.

She both hoped she was pregnant and hoped she wasn’t.

‘I don’t even know how I feel.’

With uncertainty, her anxiety only grew.

If only there was a clear answer, it would be a relief.

“I’ll give your finger a little prick.”

“Okay.”

There were various methods to confirm a pregnancy, but the most accurate was through blood.

If nothing happened after putting the blood in the identification tool, then she wasn’t pregnant. If it turned golden, then it meant she was expecting.

The evaluation took about three minutes.

Nicholas placed her blood into the tool and knelt before her.

“As you know, I’m your friend.”

“…Yes.”

“I can help with anything, so just give me your orders.”

Looking at the eyes filled with sincere loyalty and kindness, Amber felt as if she might burst into tears.

The person she needed most at that moment was Nicholas.

He was someone she could trust and rely on, and, most importantly, he had no ties to Igmeyer…

No matter what she did or what thoughts she had, there was no chance it would reach Igmeyer’s ears—he was truly on her side.

‘Ah, now I understand why my heart feels so heavy and troubled.’

She thought she had escaped. Thanks to the blessing of regret, she believed she had been given a new opportunity, and now only happiness remained; she imagined growing old alongside Igmeyer.

Watching her child grow up, cradling her grandchildren, walking together in the garden as the sunset painted the sky, and sharing the dawn from the same bed.

In winter, maybe she could build snowmen with the kids?

Despite the biting cold, children born in the North would surely be accustomed to snow and ice.

Then, in the evenings, they could gather around the fireplace, sharing old stories.

That was all she wished for.

Wasn’t it the most ordinary happiness that everyone else had?

A comfortable life, growing old surrounded by a beloved husband, children, and grandchildren.

Yet now… now, the horrific events meant that even turning back time wouldn’t help.

It was something that would happen anyway if she got pregnant!

“Help me, Nick.”

“Anything, anytime.”

“Thank you.”

She needed to think. She had to figure this out.

How could Igmeyer be saved?

Her mind was chaotic, but Amber struggled to calm her heart and regain her composure.

Her goal was clear.

Both Igmeyer and the baby must survive. She couldn’t afford to lose either.

‘There must be a loophole.’

There had been something that had made her go, “Huh?” while listening earlier.

It had slipped her mind, but she had to remember it.

The witch’s loophole.

‘Or maybe I should confide in Nick about the blessing of regret and seek his advice on all of this.’

That thought crossed her mind briefly, but Amber shook her head.

After all, Igmeyer didn’t know about the blessing yet. If she were to reveal it, it would be right to tell her husband first.

“Results are in.”

At that moment, her heart sank, and Amber’s face turned pale.

Clenching her trembling hands tightly, she looked at Nicholas with a composed expression.

No matter the outcome, she would accept it with humility. And… she would endure.

‘If there’s a baby, yes. Little one, Mommy will protect you.’

By any means necessary.

With that firm resolve, Amber’s eyes sparkled like stars.

Nicholas quietly observed the princess, noticing how her posture seemed to instinctively soften.

What radiated from Amber was a sense of determination.

A steadfast heart that wouldn’t back down in the face of any hardship and wouldn’t bend under any adversity.

To explain it more deeply, it was a heart driven not by her own desires but by the need to protect someone else.

Such a person exuded an elegance that was unattainable for others.

“You are indeed pregnant. Congratulations.”

“…!”

Nicholas didn’t understand why Amber looked so taken aback.
