“Haat! Aaaaah!”

Katie struggled in the afterglow of her climax for a long time, then, like a puppet with cut strings, she went limp and leaned her body against him.

Helion embraced Katie’s trembling body and gently stroked her back. Hngh, hngh. He thought her sobbing breaths were sweet.

Yet, unlike his aroused body, his reason was utterly cold.

‘How long will this interest last?’

Helion wondered. He wasn’t sure, but it wouldn’t be very long.

Desire, by nature, is a feeling for what one wants to possess. No one desires what they already have.

So, this craving, too, would disappear once they had thoroughly f****d. He knew that at the end of this craving lay not the benefactor he so desperately wanted, but merely a substitute mimicking her.

Helion hoped Katie would cry beautifully until that day came.

So that when he finally crossed the last line, he could willingly let her go, soft and broken with nothing left to bend.

* * *

Katie opened her eyes, and once again, she was in her dormitory room.

“Ah…”

Katie let out a small moan, then startled, she shot upright.

Her voice sounded strange. As if she’d undergone brutal training, letting out powerful battle cries.

“What on earth happened to my throat….”

No sooner had she mumbled that than the memories of last night flooded her mind.

Ah. It was no wonder her voice was gone after all that screaming and crying.

“I’m going insane.”

Katie walked straight to the wall and slammed her head against it.

Just die. For a cat in heat, death was the only answer. Living on after showing such shame was a deeper humiliation than dying.

Why do humans repeat the same mistakes? It was just the last estrus cycle that she swore she’d never do this again.

It hadn’t been years, or even months. It had only been half a month ago! Half a month!

“And yet I make the same mistake again?”

Katie slammed her head against the wall once more. Thump, thump. And again, thump.

Her continuous self-abuse only stopped when the knight in the next room burst out, convinced there was an earthquake.

“Well, well. I truly thought you wouldn’t show up today.”

Katie let Helion’s taunt slide off her back, pretending it didn’t bother her as she went to stand behind him.

It wasn’t that she wanted to come to work. But her mission was far too crucial to quit over personal feelings.

She had to remain as Dame Katie. There was no better posting to grasp the trends of the war.

“Aren’t you paying me to come to work? I need to earn my keep.”

“Another perfectly irrefutable answer today. I always feel it, but you truly are an excellent orator.”

“By the way… where have all the other knights gone?”

Katie scanned the empty room. Normally, there should be one knight by the window and one by the door. Behind Helion, where she stood, there should have been at least two. The target’s back is always where assassins find their greatest advantage. It was a place of interest to her.

But not today. All those knights were nowhere to be seen.

“Is there a holiday I don’t know about?”

“What?”

“…Never mind.”

Katie immediately regretted her words. She shouldn’t have asked. For regular knights, perhaps, but the Royal Guard had no such thing as holidays. They guarded their liege at close quarters 24 hours a day, from Monday to Sunday. While there might be breaks for shift changes, taking a holiday was impossible.

“Honestly, Katie. You are truly something.”

“If you’re going to say I have a knack for saying unexpected things, then stop. I’ve heard it too many times, it’s hard to listen to.”

No sooner had Katie spoken bluntly than Helion burst into hearty laughter. He tried to suppress it by pressing his hand against his mouth, but laughter wasn’t something that could be held back like that.

“Don’t worry, Katie. I didn’t give the other knights a holiday and leave you out. I just sent them away for a moment because I wanted to talk to you.”

“At the time I was scheduled to arrive?”

“Yes. I didn’t want to delay even for a minute.”

Helion looked at Katie, his eyes still twinkling with amusement. Katie felt somehow embarrassed and avoided his gaze.

This was all because of what Helion had said yesterday. Those words that had profoundly shocked her, even while her mind was reeling.

‘How many times have I thought about putting my tongue in those eyes? If it were possible, I would have already plucked them out, put them in my mouth, and rolled them around. Or maybe f****d them until those round things were deeply gouged.’

There was no way she could look him in the eye after hearing something like that. She knew it would make her look scared, but she couldn’t help it.
