Chapter 162
He was flipping through a dress catalog. Even the slight tilt of his head looked as if it had been meticulously crafted by an artisan—his beauty was almost unreal. But when she shifted her gaze to the opposite side, she saw the boutique staff staring at him, utterly spellbound.
She understood. That face shouldn’t exist in nature—it’s like cheating. A miracle.
While confined to the manor, she hadn’t noticed, but now that they were outside, she realized just how much attention he drew.
Suddenly, a sense of unease wrapped around Jaha.
If a man like that shows interest, wouldn’t most people jump at the chance without hesitation? Am I being too standoffish?
‘It’s not like you dislike him either, Yoo Jaha.’
Handsome, perfect, kind—how could anyone dislike him?
‘Then why am I hesitating?’
What’s holding me back?
What’s bothering me?
‘I don’t know.’
Between him and Jaha stood an invisible wall. A solid wall—unknown in origin, unknown in purpose.
Like a moth drawn to light, every time Jaha was pulled toward him, the wall repelled her.
She found its existence puzzling, yet assumed there must be a reason for it—so she turned her steps away each time.
Anyway, he was still there. He wasn’t going anywhere. Then, as she glanced around, she realized there were far more than just one or two people eyeing him.
If I stay like this, someone else might snatch him away.
The moment that thought struck, her mind sharpened. And then came the impatience. Wasn’t it like seeing a nearly sold-out item—suddenly feeling like you had to buy it? What if I need it later? What if I regret not getting it? That kind of restless urgency took hold of Jaha.
Is this what auctions prey on—human instinct? A competitive drive she hadn’t even known existed kicked in, and now she didn’t want to lose him.
If I take my time, I might miss my chance.
He could slip into someone else’s hands.
Even if she ended up regretting it later, wasn’t it better to secure him first?
Right now, Jaha had the advantage. For reasons unknown, he was fixated on her. He’d pleasured himself thinking of her, kissed her, and seemed willing to go even further.
Unlike other relationships—where you had to start from scratch, like washing and prepping ingredients—the handsome man sitting there was a fully set table. All she had to do was pick up the spoon and eat.
Her heartbeat quickened.
‘But can I handle the aftermath?’
What if he’s poisonous?
Jaha wondered if she was just another bidder, swept up in the heat of the auction, about to make an impulsive purchase she didn’t need. No—if it were merely unnecessary, that’d be fine. But what if she couldn’t handle it? What if there were no returns?
Then the image of Hessena, escorted by Rikanan, flashed in her mind. The flush on her cheeks before his lips even touched her hand, the gaze that refused to leave him.
A sharp, prickling feeling, childish superiority, and something even more embarrassing tangled together chaotically.
At this point, there was no denying it. She’d tried to ignore this emotion, stumbled upon unexpectedly, but—this was jealousy.
As hard as it was to admit, acknowledging it calmed her. The tangled mess in her head began to unravel.
Jaha clenched her eyes shut. That man might be a tempting poison mushroom. Dangerous, but…
‘…I can’t stand the thought of someone else taking a bite.’
The wall crumbled.
A chilling wind wrapped around her.
If she had to label it—bad, not good. An omen closer to ill fortune than blessing, as if warning her of a mistake. But the wall was already gone.
Bracing against the foreboding, Jaha chose to step beyond it.
Silence filled the carriage. Whether out of consideration for her sightseeing or not, Rikanan remained quiet.
It was Jaha who spoke first.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Of course.”
“You once said you wouldn’t do anything I dislike.”
It was what he had told her the day they kissed. A reassurance to Jaha, who had feared he might push further—I won’t force you. You can relax.
The man’s blue eyes gleamed with an unusual light.
“I did say that.”
“How long is that promise valid? How long can you keep it?”
Outside the window, the scenery passed by meaninglessly. Though this was a rare outing, Jaha’s attention was fixed solely on the man seated across from her.
“Until you no longer want me to.”
His reply was calm, matter-of-fact.
“If you want me to be a good man, I’ll be a good man. If you want me to be a dog who obeys his master absolutely, then that’s what I’ll be.”
Without so much as a blink.
“I’ll become whatever Jaha desires.”
His breathtakingly handsome face wore a charming smile as he spoke.
No matter how smooth someone’s words might be, this was too much. Jaha couldn’t help but laugh. She’d sooner believe a promise to pluck the stars from the sky.
“Aren’t you laying it on a bit thick?”
“Then test it yourself. See if it’s an exaggeration—or not.”
His piercing blue gaze seemed to pull her in. Dangerous eyes. They glittered like jewels, yet held the hypnotic allure of forget-me-nots, dewy and deliberate.
Even if he kept a fraction of what he just said, it’d be a miracle.
Yet even as she thought it, Jaha slowly leaned toward him. Just as she was about to rise from her seat, he closed the distance in an instant, surging forward.
Her dress-covered legs were trapped between the firm, uniform-clad strength of his thighs. Startled, Jaha instinctively struggled—but his legs didn’t budge, unmoving as pillars.
Yet his lips, when they met hers, were soft. The movement of his tongue terrifyingly precise, drawing the tension from her body bit by bit until she melted.
It felt like being coiled by a serpent—immobilized, sharp fangs sinking in, sweet venom flooding her veins.
“Hah…”
Jaha couldn’t gather her thoughts. She’d noticed it before, but this man was too skilled at kissing. As if he already knew exactly what she liked, how to touch her—as though he held the answer key to a test titled Yoo Jaha.
If anything, she was the one learning from him—discovering which touches, which movements, made her shudder with pleasure.
“Nn…”
Pinned under his larger frame, she was nearly lying flat now. The back of her head bumped against the carriage wall, but his hand cradled her protectively, sparing her any pain. The only problem was the overwhelming pleasure.
It wasn’t just her mouth being ravaged—it felt like her brain was being licked, stirred. The more their tongues tangled, the foggier her mind grew, her vision blurring. A throbbing heat pooled low in her stomach, between her legs. She could feel the dampness seeping into her underwear.
Last time, he slid his hand in here too. He’d asked for permission, teased her c**t, and given her a climax unlike anything she’d ever experienced.
‘Will he do it again this time?’
Shivering with lurid anticipation, Jaha clenched her thighs. But instead of slipping beneath her skirt, his hands straightened her disheveled clothes and pulled away. Just as she caught her breath, aching with frustration—
“How about we save the sightseeing for another time, Jaha?”
His voice was filthy—thick and rough, exactly like when he’d chanted her name alone, pleasuring himself.
There was no mistaking what it meant if they returned home now.
Face flushed, Jaha gave a small nod. His heated gaze locked onto her as he barked an order to the coachman:
“Home. As fast as possible.”
