Chapter 87
Following his order, Jaha took the flower crown and placed it on her head. It fit as if it had been made precisely for her.
Standing still like a mannequin so he could inspect it, she watched the Emperor.
He scrutinized her intently before turning away without hesitation.
“Crude. You keep it.”
Stunned, Jaha removed the crown from her head.
It’s flawlessly made—how is this crude? What a strange man. If judged purely on craftsmanship, it was so well-made it could’ve been featured in a textbook as an example.
If she had to nitpick, the only downside was that it was a bit monotonous, made solely of yellow flowers. It would’ve looked even better with a mix of different colors.
Jaha followed behind the Emperor, who had already walked far ahead, silently mocking to herself, He has skill but no sense.
Suddenly feeling regretful, she glanced back. Cedric still lay prostrate in the same spot.
Is there really no way to speak with him?
With her days spent shadowing the Emperor, Jaha had no freedom to spare. Though Cedric’s situation wasn’t as strict as hers, he was still a slave—his movements just as limited.
Realistically, there was no way for them to meet. Unless by sheer luck they crossed paths while she was going to bathe…
Jaha’s footsteps halted.
The baths—her only time alone, away from the Emperor. Her only chance to see Cedric. But how could she get him to come there?
Even if she somehow got word to him, as slaves they couldn’t set fixed plans. If called by their masters, they had to obey. However she looked at it, arranging a meeting seemed hopeless.
The more impossible it seemed, the more frustrated she grew. Barriers always fanned desire. Had meeting Cedric been easy, perhaps she wouldn’t have wanted it this badly.
Lost in this strange yearning, Jaha’s gaze lingered on those platinum blond locks swaying in the wind—an uncharacteristic slip.
“What are you looking at?”
The Emperor’s voice snapped her back. “A bug flew by,” she lied smoothly. “I just followed it without thinking.”
“A bug… A bug, you say.”
Head bowed, Jaha anxiously reviewed her actions.
She hadn’t stammered or hesitated. Her response came naturally, without delay. Besides, Cedric hadn’t been the only slave in that direction. The chances of her true focus being noticed were slim.
Fortunately, the Emperor seemed to accept her explanation and didn’t press further. Jaha thought the matter was settled – at least until they reached his study and he dismissed all the attendants.
Only when she saw everyone hastily leaving did Jaha realize they’d been given some unspoken signal to withdraw.
What’s going on?
Like a small animal sensing danger, Jaha’s every sense went on high alert as the Emperor gestured toward her.
“Come here.”
Perhaps because she had something to hide, the atmosphere around the Emperor felt different than usual. Swallowed by a creeping unease, Jaha stood before him.
“Bend over the desk and raise your hips. I need to inspect your backside.”
Inspect? This was new.
“Now.”
At the Emperor’s urging, Jaha had no choice but to comply. He lifted her skirts to expose her lower half, kneading her b******s as he muttered,
“The outside looks clean enough, but I’ll need to check inside properly.”
Jaha wore undergarments that might as well have been nothing at all—just a thin string above her pelvis and a single strand of small beads below, forming a T-shape with the vertical bead-string.
The Emperor pushed aside the bead-string nestled between her cheeks and spread her open with both hands gripping the rings.
First, he visually inspected inside, but unsatisfied with just that, he eventually inserted his fingers to thoroughly probe and stir.
“At least you didn’t get wet from looking at another man,” he remarked.
Jaha flinched. Does he know something? That he would do this right after she saw Cedric—her guilty conscience made her heart pound.
“Now, let’s check this side.”
The Emperor’s hand moved to her back entrance. Pressing just the tips of his index and middle fingers in, he spread them horizontally like scissors, peering inside before murmuring in a lowered voice,
“There’s moisture.”
Without hesitation, his thick finger pushed in deeper. A sticky sound followed immediately.
“Definitely wet.”
“That’s—just from the stimulation earlier—”
“So you felt it during the examination?”
The Emperor punctuated his question by thrusting his fingers in and out. Jaha’s back trembled as she answered,
“Y-Yes.”
“I see. I thought your backside got excited just from looking at men. My mistake.”
“Y-Yes, a misunderstanding…”
“Jaha.”
Hearing her name so abruptly, Jaha forgot to breathe.
“Remember this well—you belong to me.”
The Emperor brushed her cheek with his large hand, an oddly tender gesture.
“Even a b***h knows her master. Wouldn’t it be a problem if you didn’t recognize yours? Hmm?”
