Chapter 31
The Emperor’s foot pressed hard against Jia’s cheek. After a moment’s hesitation, Jia extended her tongue and licked his foot. He laughed, a sign she had made the right choice. Relief washed over her; she hadn’t incurred his wrath. Perhaps she would be spared pain… The Emperor extended a hand towards her. Jia, gazing at his long, elegant fingers, gently took hold of his fingertips. Their hands clasped, interlocking like a closed lock. Jia inhaled sharply, a feeling like an invisible force constricting her throat.
“Do you know why Disteban acts this way?”
The Emperor and Jia became one entangled form on the bed. She silently watched him toy with her fingers as if they were playthings, then softly answered, “No.”
“I’m talking about why he would push his own sister into servitude, ordering her into my bedchamber like a w***e.”
“…Because of… power?”
The Emperor’s fingers stroked Jia’s palm. The memory of a previous encounter, where his nails had drawn blood, surfaced, causing her body to tense involuntarily.
“Such things have happened many times before.”
“I… cannot produce an heir with a human.”
A tongue pressed wetly against her palm. Jia flinched, curling her fingers with a soft moan.
“So, the position of Empress isn’t truly necessary.”
“Hhh, Mm……”
“But seeing me take a woman to my bed, he fears I might suddenly choose someone outside their family for the position.”
“Hah, Ah!”
The tongue that had been lavishing her palm now trailed up her wrist, then along her arm, finally reaching her b****t.
“Even though he knows the Stratuban family has no eligible women, hmm?”
“Hhh!”
His tongue pressed firmly against her n****e. She shuddered at the sensation, even as she braced herself for the potential return of his biting or scratching.
The Emperor, after suckling her b****t, pushed his hardened length inside her. She gasped, now accustomed to his entry.
“Hahhh……!”
Waves of pleasure blurred her vision. She realized, with a strange detachment, that her body was beginning to relish these sensations. I shouldn’t enjoy this. But… couldn’t she, just for this brief moment? Reason and desire clashed within her, and as always, desire triumphed. In the hell that was Erendia, this was the only moment of genuine pleasure.
“Ah, Ahh!”
The silver Emperor, with an expression mirroring her own, shared in the pleasure. Held tightly in his embrace, Jia closed her eyes, surrendering to the waves of sensation.
The Emperor’s bedchamber, the cubiculum, was no longer a place of learning. Jia eventually retreated to the gynaeceum, the only place she could call her own, where she could be with Julia without fear.
Despite having her head kicked the previous night, Julia appeared as composed and immaculate as ever. Her greeting was cheerful.
“I… I’m sorry. Because of me……”
“Why would you apologize, Jia? There’s no need. It was my fault. I’m fortunate to be alive.”
“…….”
“I expressed my gratitude for His Majesty’s generous mercy.”
Did most people in Erendia think this way? Or was it her, having come from Earth, who was strange? Confusion swirled within Jia. The Emperor’s casual taking of a life, an act that would be considered cruel and horrific on Earth, was seemingly acceptable to the people of Ustanville. The thought made her head spin.
“I see……”
Jia opened the book she had been reading the day before, now halfway through. She focused on the text. She had learned that mastering the theory was only the first step. Putting it into practice was the real challenge. Many could grasp the theory but fail to manifest the magic. All this diligent study would be for nothing if her body couldn’t manifest the magic. Jia concentrated, determined to at least understand the theory.
Finally, she finished the last page. Before the Mutatio could arrive, Julia, who had been waiting patiently, approached with a smile.
“How was it?”
“……I understand it, but I’m worried about whether I can actually manifest the magic.”
“If you can’t, you can use a magic stone. His Majesty has instructed that no expense be spared for anything you require.”
“……Yes.”
Following the instructions in the book, Jia tried to sense the flow of magic in the air. She didn’t know which element would be the basis of her magic, but she could faintly perceive a pulsating light.
