Chapter 35
“Lady Jia!”
“No, I don’t want to kill…”
Uncontrolled magic erupted, spraying through the air. In an instant, the surrounding fixtures were destroyed, sending stone fragments flying and burying them in the rubble.
“Damnation!”
Fortunately, Tristan and Ethan had thrown up a defensive barrier, and all four of them were unharmed. Jia collapsed to the floor, trembling.
“Are you all right? It must be because you gathered so much magic at once. I’m sorry, I was too…”
“No, it’s not that. It’s just… it’s just…”
Jia staggered to her feet. After taking several deep breaths, she spoke in a shaky voice.
“I’m going to… rest for today. I don’t feel well…”
“Yes, of course. Let’s go back at once.”
Julia Distevan forced a smile as she replied, but her tone was tinged with alarm. Jia, lacking even the strength to smile back, listlessly retraced her steps.
The thought of the damage she had caused surfaced belatedly, but she felt nothing. What does it matter, anyway?
Jia headed not for her own room, but for the emperor’s bedchamber. If she was going to end up back here anyway, she didn’t want to make the trip in vain.
Her back rose and fell in a display of utter helplessness. She buried herself in the sheets and wept. Unbidden, a rabbit-shaped holy spirit appeared and nestled into her arms.
“Thank you…” Jia whispered. As if in reply, the spirit rubbed its cheek against her chin. She hugged the soft ball of fur and held her breath for a long time.

The emperor returned to his bedchamber somewhat early. Jia pulled down the sheet she had drawn over her head and swung her feet out of bed.
“Welcome, Your Majesty…”
She was wearing only a simple slip, and the emperor chuckled the moment he saw her.
“You look like a mistress who’s been lazing about all day, waiting to greet me.”
Aside from the word “mistress,” he wasn’t wrong. Jia said nothing and began to remove his clothes. He no longer summoned his attendants, instead having Jia undress him and even dress him.
“I heard you broke a few pillars in the atrium.”
“…My apologies, Your Majesty. I made a mistake while practicing my magic…”
Jia immediately dropped to her knees. A smirk spread across the emperor’s face as he slowly bent his own knees to meet her. Though she had knelt before him countless times, it was the first time he had ever lowered himself to her eye level.
“I hate lies.”
He seized her cheek in a brutal grip. The force twisted her lips. Had her body not been immortal, her face would have been crushed.
“…Hhngh.”
“Did Tristan not tell you?”
“His Majesty does not care for hiding things or telling lies.”
She had heard it before, not long after she’d first met the emperor. Her eyes filled with terror as she confessed.
“I… I’m s-sorry… The truth is, I remembered what happened last night…”
His grip slackened. Jia choked, her hands flying to her own neck. It was still attached. There was nothing wrong.
The emperor caught Jia’s limp body and pulled her up. She fell into his arms with docile obedience. Through her thin slip, she could feel the warmth of his body, clad not even in a nightshirt.
She wanted to be shaken, to have the thoughts in her head erased. The moment her body touched the bed, she reached for him. For an instant, interest flickered in his weary eyes.
She tilted her head up to his and kissed his lips. It was a light touch, there and gone, but the signal was sent with perfect clarity.
“…Your Majesty said that… only when we couple… I could touch you first…”
“So I did.”
The emperor smiled as he stripped off her thin slip. Jia opened her arms. His body fit deep within hers, their forms clinging together as one. Her body, anticipating the act to come, began to weep with slickness.
Kisses trailed along the soft skin behind her ear and down her neck. A strong hand kneaded her b****t while a thigh pushed between her legs, rubbing against her most intimate flesh. Jia parted her legs wide. And then, a sensation of both pain and pleasure split her in two as he entered her.
“Hnngh…”
“Kill me…”
Every time the voice surfaced, his s*x thrust deep inside her, and for a fleeting moment, the voice would fade.
“Haah, ah!”
All I have to do is focus on the pleasure. Then it will be easier…
Jia wrapped her arms around the emperor’s neck. He laughed.
“Getting used to it now?”
“Hn, yes… Your Majesty! Hah, ahng!”
This feels good. It’s all right now. Sobbing, Jia wrapped her trembling legs around his waist. The emperor’s smile deepened.
She panted, tilting her head back and closing her eyes.
“Kill me…”
The voice was still there, but as another powerful stimulus shot through her from below, her mind quickly washed white.
