Chapter 2. The Lust Demon That Attacked Demian

Before I knew it, a month had passed since I entered the Academy, and now I no longer had to worry about getting lost no matter where I walked.

Ayla cautiously held out a folder to me as we headed toward the training ground side by side today as well.

“Levi, this.”

“Shall we take a look?”

I sat on a nearby bench with Ayla and meticulously checked the documents she handed me, page by page.

“Ayla.”

“Yes, Levi.”

“If there was a way to nullify the contents of your parents’ will and receive your inheritance a bit earlier, would you do it?”

When Ayla nodded as if it were a matter of course, the proposal I gave her was simple.

“Then let’s file a lawsuit against the bank. There are many capable lawyers in Heron, so I can help you.”

“A lawsuit?”

“Yes. We’ll sue the bank that is managing the inheritance your parents left behind. We’ll reveal that your uncle, who claims to be your guardian, isn’t properly caring for you, and nullify the legal effect of the will.”

Suing a bank.

It was simple, but since hiring lawyers costs a lot of money, it was likely a method Ayla had never even considered.

However, now that I could help with the legal costs and the process, neutralizing the will itself was the fastest way to reclaim Ayla’s inheritance.

‘According to Imperial law, the parties to the lawsuit would be Ayla and the bank’s lawyers.’

The fact that Ayla’s uncle, who wasn’t even a party to the lawsuit, was mistreating her could be sufficiently proven by actions such as forcing her to use the campus dormitory.

And her despicable uncle still had no idea that Ayla was trying to nullify the will because he wasn’t a party to the lawsuit.

Since it was a trial regarding Ayla’s share of the inheritance, there was no obligation to notify him of anything.

Now that the lawsuit had begun, I was helping Ayla while simultaneously protecting her so she wouldn’t be harmed by her uncle’s people.

“You did well, Ayla. Since even your signature is perfectly done, we’ll be able to convey your intention to the judges that you want to receive and manage the inheritance directly as quickly as possible.”

What I had just received from Ayla was a kind of business plan.

At the upcoming trial, I planned to show this to the judge to appeal that Ayla had the ability and plan to manage the inheritance even without her uncle’s help.

‘But for something she wrote in just a few days, the plans are detailed and feasible.’

She had been buying and reading the newspapers diligently every day, despite being busy and lacking pocket money.

I suppose, before being the female lead with holy power, she is indeed the daughter of a Baron and Baroness who ran a massive merchant guild.

Quite surprised, I carefully sealed the documents Ayla gave me and tucked them into my bosom.

“Don’t worry too much. I’m the only one who gets called a defective product—the Heron lawyers are very capable.”

“What kind of joke is that? Truly…… Truly, thank you, Levi.”

Ayla gave a soft laugh at my dry joke, then tightly grabbed my hand and expressed her gratitude once more.

Even though I had fed her all those cookies and sandwiches I’d requested from our chef, Ayla’s wrists were still skeletal.

Feeling a sense of pity, a certain scene came to mind.

In the original work, Ayla ultimately never inherits the legacy her parents left for her.

She simply blames herself for her own stupidity and incompetence just as her uncle wanted, withering away day by day until she visits the Temple to overcome her mental anguish.

It is then that a carriage accident almost occurs, and Frid, who happens to be near the Temple, saves her—marking their first meeting.

‘Is it because the male lead has to appear when the female lead is at her most devastated for it to look good?’

Even so…… I didn’t want Ayla to go through all those misfortunes.

Because it wouldn’t matter if she fell in love with Frid while living happily, smiling beautifully as she is now, with a healthy mind and a heavy purse.

I glossed over all those reasons appropriately.

“No. We’re friends, so of course we help each other.”

At those words, Ayla’s eyes widened to their limit before melting into a soft, crescent-moon shape.

“Friends…… I see.”

Muttering those two syllables, Ayla looked happier than at any other moment I had seen so far.

“Thank you so much, Levi.”

“…….”

“I’ll be sure to repay this favor. If you ever need my help later, you must tell me first, alright?”

I couldn’t miss out on having Ayla—not just anyone, but one of the strongest beings in this world’s setting—making such a promise.

“Sure. If I need help later, I’ll be sure to tell you.”

“You’re promising, right?”
