Chapter 2.6
“Demon?”
Demian’s brow furrowed slightly.
Sensing that an interrogation might follow, Levi quickly added.
“I might have misfelt it, but I thought it would be better to be sure.”
Then, Demian knit his brows and grabbed the sword he had set in the corner.
“The ability to sense demons cannot match Heron’s Blessing. If you felt something instinctively……”
It was then, just as he was speaking and his eyes narrowed as he sensed something.
Sss—
A Demonic Energy several times more concentrated than what she had sensed outside began to spread in all directions.
Not only Levi but also Demian instantly sharpened their senses to the limit and focused.
‘How did this happen? It certainly feels like there’s only one entity.’
There was a limit to the Demonic Energy a single demon could emit. The higher the rank of the demon, the greater the amount.
The fact that such thick Demonic Energy was spreading everywhere meant only one thing.
“Prince Demian. It would be best to move away. This thing is no low-grade demon.”
Judging by the amount and concentration of the Demonic Energy it was emitting, it was at least a high-grade demon. There was a possibility it was even higher.
‘Considering it completely hid its presence by cutting off its Demonic Energy for a moment, it might even be a Transcendent-grade that hasn’t been discovered until now.’
As she made her judgment, something massive revealed itself within the thick Demon.
Ssssrk—
“……!”
A pitch-black creature in the form of a giant snake, so massive its head touched the ceiling.
At a glance, it looked much larger and stronger than the high-grade demons she had learned about in the <Demonology> class.
For such a strong demon to appear now was certainly a development that wasn’t in the original novel.
No, more than that.
‘What lineage of demon is this?’
As she inhaled the Demonic Energy scattered everywhere, her body seemed to be growing hot little by little.
Sssk—
The demon’s bluish-purple eyes, glowing within the dense demonic aura, glanced at Demian.
Levi felt a chill run down her spine with another worry.
‘I heard high-grade demons have a habit of taking out the strongest enemy first. If the Prince gets injured while the heir of Heron is with him…….’
She would surely be torn to shreds for failing to protect the Prince and would be plagued by a controversy over her qualifications.
In this situation, the thing to do was to evacuate Demian first and deal with the demon herself.
Levi stepped in front of Demian and summoned Heron’s longsword.
At that, Demian frowned as if he had just seen something unpleasant.
“It’s not possible with your strength. Get back.”
For a Prince to protect a knight was a reversal of the hierarchy by a long shot, but Demian was originally not the type to care about such things.
His red eyes wavered for a moment, and then mana with a much higher density than Levi’s spread out from his fingertips, vibrating the surroundings.
A magic swordsman who had reached the realm of a Sword Master even before becoming an adult as a result of fierce training.
A powerhouse who had refined his mana to its peak to surpass the holy power his half-brother possessed.
Levi could naturally realize that the words describing his power were not added out of flattery.
CRACK!
A reddish-brown bolt of lightning, too fast to even resist, struck down, slamming into the demon.
“Gyaaah!”
Perhaps flustered by a strike much stronger than expected, the demon let out a horrific scream.
It twisted its body to escape somehow, but Demian’s attack was wide-ranging.
“Ughhh!”
The screaming demon glared at Demian.
At the same time, it rapidly expanded its size and then split into hundreds, thousands of tentacles, lunging at Demian.
“……!”
At that moment, Levi remembered the contents of a book she had read in the library of the Heron mansion.
A demon that takes the form of a giant snake but transforms its body into tentacles or mucus as needed.
A corrupt existence that possesses a human body to satisfy its endless lust and carnal desire, gradually erasing the soul that originally resided in the body.
‘A Lust-type demon. So that means…….’
A Lust Demon that seduces a person and turns them into a pervert with nothing but lust remaining.
As if to prove her guess was correct, the eyes of Demian, who was facing the demon, gradually began to lose focus.
“Your Highness!”
As soon as she realized the identity of the giant snake-like thing was a Lust Demon, Levi readjusted her longsword and deployed a defensive spell.
Crack—!
The shield she deployed by squeezing out all her strength blocked most of the thin black tentacles that were pouring toward Demian.
Then, the tentacles that were deflected without reaching him merged again to form the giant snake shape.
Demian took in Levi’s reasonably solid shield with his eyes and struck the demon once more.
“Ghhk!”
As if it had already suffered a fatal injury from Demian’s previous attack, the demon twisted its body violently and emitted Demonic Energy.
It seemed to be trying to launch an additional attack somehow, but it looked as if it couldn’t squeeze out any strength because its wounds were deep.
Levi, who was carefully observing its movements, soon realized that the demon couldn’t move the part where it was most severely injured.
‘It’s an opening.’
