Chapter 13
Lucius’s flinching reaction to her touch brought a strange sense of satisfaction. The blue eyes, filled only with her, also felt so good that they soothed the emptiness she had felt all this time. Was that why? Without realizing it, she muttered her honest impression.
“Ah, so pretty.”
The moment Lucius stopped moving, his face shocked, a hot sensation spread deep within her stomach. Feeling the s***n surging and filling her inside was the last thing Charlotte registered before she fell into a deep slumber.

The next morning. Charlotte went down to the dining room. Naturally, Lucius was there. Sitting in his usual spot, looking exactly the same as always.
“You’re here, Charlotte.”
“…Yes.”
Sitting across from him, Charlotte quietly observed Lucius as the servants brought out the meal. His near-rigid straight posture, his characteristically impassive expression—no matter how thoroughly she scrutinized him, not a single trace of last night’s passion was visible. He was a completely different person from the man who, overcome with raging lust, had lost his reason and driven his c**k into her.
Recalling the wild s*x from the previous night, she felt her mouth go dry and a tickling sensation between her legs without even realizing it. As a matter of fact, her first s****l experience with Lucius had been an even more ecstatic experience than she had imagined. She almost wished she hadn’t been drinking so her mind could have been clearer to fully appreciate it.
The sensation of having her inner walls pierced by a violent shaft and being thrust everywhere was vividly etched into every single cell of her body. Charlotte, straightening her back and tensening her trembling thighs, averted her eyes to the food to avoid acknowledging her dampening lower body.
Just as she was about to take a spoonful of the steaming soup, Lucius, surprisingly, was the first to break the silence.
“How is your body feeling?”
The spoon slipped from Charlotte’s hand and clattered onto the floor. A maid hurried over to clean up and bring new utensils, but Charlotte’s gaze remained fixed on Lucius.
‘I thought he would pretend not to know.’
Frankly, she hadn’t expected him to ask so directly, and without even a change in his expression. Charlotte, who was about to simply reply that she was fine, changed her mind and decided to test him.
“My lower back is a bit sore. Thanks to you, I had a hard time getting up.”
“…I see. My apologies.”
The almost absurdly quick apology was disconcerting, but what followed was even more astounding.
“I will try to be more careful next time.”
Next time? Unable to hide her astonishment, Charlotte blinked, her face blank with disbelief.
“Are you aware we’re in the process of getting a divorce?”
“I am aware.”
His reply was casual, as if asking what the problem was. Stunned by his brazenly nonchalant attitude, Charlotte was left speechless. Had he decided to just throw all caution to the wind since they’d already slept together? It was infuriating that she seemed to be the only one finding this situation strange.
While she was struck dumb, unable to speak, Lucius finished his meal. As he elegantly dabbed the corners of his mouth, Charlotte noticed that one cuff of his sleeve was undone. Looking closer, the knot of his usually immaculate tie was also slightly messy.
In the grand scheme, it was a very minor oversight, but it was a mistake the Lucius Valentin she knew would never make.
“If you don’t mind, I shall take my leave first. I have business to attend to by this afternoon.”
And on top of that, he was asking for permission to leave first? The man who always waited until she finished eating?
Though he was outwardly maintaining a facade of calm composure, his inner world must have been just as tumultuous as hers.
Charlotte watched Lucius’s retreating back with suspicious eyes.
‘Just what are you scheming, Lucius?’
She remained at the table for a long time after Lucius left the dining room, but ultimately couldn’t manage a proper spoonful. Returning to her room, Charlotte soothed her empty stomach with warm milk tea. As her hunger subsided, her troubled mind settled somewhat. Of course, that didn’t mean the fundamental issue was resolved.
