Chapter 49
“No, Charlotte.”
Lucius shook his head firmly.
“We made a promise.”
“But…”
Charlotte frowned.
‘It was less a promise and more a unilateral declaration. Besides, I never agreed.’
As she complained inwardly, Lucius pulled his member all the way out. The hole clenched regretfully as the flesh it had held inside departed. Lucius wrapped a hand around his stiff, swollen p***s and shook it up and down. A moment later, the violently e********d release splattered across Charlotte’s stomach and chest, even reaching her face.
Lucius began meticulously wiping Charlotte’s naked body, now marked with his white traces, with a clean wet cloth.
“Lucius.”
“…….”
“Are you really going to keep doing this?”
At the question laced with disappointment, Lucius averted his gaze. His expression darkened as he silently continued to wipe her body.
Whenever Lucius recalled the day Charlotte gave birth, he was still seized by a feeling of his heart sinking and the blood in his entire body running cold.
The labor that began in the early morning lasted until the sun began to set in the west. Lucius paced restlessly in front of the firmly closed delivery room door. He had summoned and had every renowned doctor on standby in case of any unforeseen circumstances, but even that did not put his mind at ease.
Whenever a scream that sounded like it could tear through the air came from the delivery room, Lucius felt as if his own heart was being torn to shreds. Unable to bear the anxiety, Lucius tried to charge through the door several times, forcing his aides to fluster and desperately hold him back.
Thump, thump, thump. The sound of his frantically beating heart only amplified his anxiety. What if something goes wrong? If anything happens to Charlotte… His agitation reaching its peak, Lucius stared fixedly at the delivery room with bloodshot eyes, gnawing on his already bitten lips.
‘Why does she have to be the one to suffer?’
Now, his daughter was so precious and beloved he wouldn’t feel pain even if she were placed in his eye, and more valuable than anything in the world, but at that moment, he resented the baby inside Charlotte who was causing her pain. This misplaced resentment quickly turned into a devastating sense of guilt. It all felt like it was his fault.
If Charlotte was receiving a punishment meant for him, if that were the case, then he would rather have his own life taken. He would gladly give his soul or anything else if it would just make her pain stop. In his desperation, Lucius begged and pleaded, searching for every god he didn’t even believe in.
After a time of endurance, fortunately, Charlotte gave birth safely. Lucius set aside his duties as the family head until she had fully recovered and cared for her with utmost devotion. He personally took over even the tasks of the maids, attending to her himself and refusing to leave her side for even a moment. In truth, it was less like care and more like pathological overprotection.
As time passed, Charlotte wanted to have a second child, but Lucius was adamantly opposed. It wasn’t that he disliked children. A child who resembled her would surely be lovely. But for him, Charlotte’s safety was paramount, and he did not want to risk the possibility of losing her. Thus, whenever they were intimate, Lucius was extremely careful to release his seed outside of her.
Charlotte seemed to notice her husband’s attitude, but to be honest, for Lucius, continuing the family line was not an important matter at all. By his side, he had a wife more precious than life itself and a lovely daughter who resembled her; that alone was more than enough happiness.
