Devrant had once again fled like a cunning rat, but the monster he created continued its rampage.

With its grotesque mouth wide open, ready to devour anything, it swung its disgusting tentacles.

Apart from those who had perished in the initial ambush, no additional deaths had occurred, but everyone was exhausted.

The tower’s regular mages were struggling just to keep the tentacles at bay, and Hisran and Siord had expended much of their strength trying to ensure no more deaths tonight.

Hesed, who had been gravely injured, along with Scarlet and Vine, were also nearing their limits. Irina, who had wielded her power after partially absorbing Tumor’s divinity and performed a miraculous healing spell on Hesed, could collapse at any moment.

Whish!

The greedy tentacles targeted the weary prey, darting towards them.

“Don’t let them touch you! Push them back!”

“Renoc, be careful!”

If the mages here, who represented the Western region’s greatest power, couldn’t defeat this monstrous creature, many lives would be lost. And with each life lost, the creature would grow even more formidable.

Spit!

Hisran spat out the blood that had surged up his throat from overexertion and muttered,

“I’m not eating noodles for a while. This damned monster has ruined my appetite!”

Clenching his teeth, Hisran conjured a brilliant fireball that formed into a sphere in the air. He had squeezed out his mana with the resolve to be bedridden for a month.

Realizing that the Red Tower Master was preparing a powerful attack, the White Tower mages did their best to hinder Gluttony’s movements with determined faces.

“Damn annoying creature.”

Siord, glaring at Hisran with irritation, also scraped together his remaining mana. He couldn’t use his specialty, ice magic, which was completely incompatible with Hisran’s fire.

Instead, electricity crackled in Siord’s hands, blindingly bright. Apart from his specialty, he was most adept at lightning magic.

Though annoyed at having to support Hisran’s magic, he knew that cooperation was necessary over pride at this moment. As the Blue Tower Master, he understood this very well.

The intense electric current shot out like an arrow, joining the sphere of fire. The glowing sphere exuded an aura of destruction, capable of obliterating anything in its path.

However, neither Hisran nor Siord wore bright expressions. While this combined sphere of their best efforts was formidable, it was still inferior to what they could create at their peak condition, and the enemy had grown stronger since the beginning.

“…If that gets absorbed too, we’re dead today.”

Hisran’s voice trembled slightly at the end.

In the past, when he feared nothing, it might have been different. But now, he didn’t want to die. He hadn’t even married his steadfast lover yet.

“Don’t talk nonsense. Yeonhwa is waiting.”

Siord snapped fiercely, staring at the sphere.

He, too, couldn’t die here. There was a woman who considered him her world.

As Siord considered pushing his limits to increase the power, he heard a firm voice.

“You’ve done well. Now step back, both of you.”

“Irina!”

With tears not yet fully dried, Irina, bleeding from her mouth, gathered her mana. An ominous wind began to blow around her.

“Please help me!”

She shouted, looking up at the dark and cloudy sky.

Irina had always been aware that spirits, especially wind spirits, followed her well, but she had been reluctant to call for their help in battles. She didn’t want to burden innocent beings with the task of fighting without a proper contract as a spiritist.

But principles could only be upheld if one survived. What meaning would principles have if they were upheld at the cost of losing loved ones and the land they lived on?

“Give me a chance to make up for my mistakes!”

Her passionate cry echoed through the dimly lit White Tower.

Injured mages sprawled on the ground and panting mages all turned to look at Irina. Scarlet, with eyes still burning like flames, and Vine, with an unwavering expression, watched their junior who now surpassed even the previous Tower Master in presence.

“…”

Even Loretta, who had hidden herself in the shadows, cast a quiet glance at the scene. She sensed the immense wave of power surrounding Irina.

Whoosh.

A wind arose, as if to sweep away all the darkness of the night.

“Go!”

Irina’s sharp voice was the signal. The storm she summoned, with the wind spirits’ assistance, rushed toward the blazing mana sphere.

Hisran took a sharp breath, his face showing surprise.

Originally, wind was a friend to fire, helping it burn even brighter. Unless there was a significant power difference, the wind could never extinguish a burning flame.

But the storm Irina created seemed to consume the mana sphere made by Hisran and Siord the moment it touched it.

“!”
