“Y-yes… Well… It’s afternoon, so the sunlight is… dazzlingly golden. It’s reflecting off the leaves of the World Tree too…”

“Does it hurt your eyes?”

The head wrapped in the curtain shook from side to side.

“N-no… The light is just… so radiant… that’s all… Nngh, it’s fine.”

While her lips still lingered on the answer, his hand slipped between the parted curtains like a silent snake. Evelyn twisted her waist as heat rose from the soles of her slippered feet, but escape was impossible. Her eyes fluttered wide, then squeezed shut as she resisted, even lifting one foot like a bird a few times in futile defiance.

A voice, lower and heavier now, urged her on.

“Keep talking.”

His slow, deliberate hand unexpectedly traveled upward, gently tracing the line of her jaw beneath the curtain. Evelyn’s tension—built from expecting him to touch her lower belly, thighs, or that sensitive place between her legs—melted away.

Maybe I should’ve been more cautious earlier, she thought. When he asked if I was hungry and only pressed against my lower belly… If I’d handled it better, there wouldn’t have been that kiss… And my shoulder wouldn’t have been bitten so hard…

But the thought of nothing happening at all was even more unbearable.

What is it that I truly want?

Her wavering heart kept conjuring up imaginary paths and endless dilemmas about him. Her eyes, bathed in the sunset, shimmered with a faint golden hue before she finally grasped what she needed to do.

“Umm… Over there, the direction is… Ah! Toward the barracks. Sir Laocon is heading that way. And beside him… Who was it again? Ah, Sir Iel. And… other knights too, but they’re all blond, so I’m not sure of their names.”

From what she’d seen living in the castle, most elves were overwhelmingly blond or silver-haired, though with slight variations in shade. Cassis, too, had inherited that striking, beautiful golden hair, yet for some reason, it irked him that she had so easily picked out Laocon and Iel amidst the other knights.

For a brief moment, his breath turned ragged.

“Mmm, hhng…!”

The hand that had been wrapped around her waist slid over the curtain and groped her a*s with a firm squeeze. Even through the thick fabric, the plush, yielding softness was unmistakable—the way it clung to his palm, as if begging to be kneaded. Lost in the illusion of stripping her bare and molding her flesh, he murmured darkly,

“They’re all wearing the same uniform?”

“Y-yes… Sir Iel and Sir Laocon too… Nngh!”

The delicate hitch in her breath, muffled by the curtain, sent a thrill through him. Even if the names she uttered still grated on his nerves. Narrowing his eyes, Cassis savored Evelyn’s squirming resistance, trapped as she was in this cumbersome drapery. A feeble struggle, but one she’d brought upon herself—running straight into his grasp.

Another question, uncharacteristically closed-off for an elf, slipped from him, sharp as a blade.

“How did you recognize them?”

“Huh…?”

“You said they were all mixed together, yet you picked them out at a glance.”

“Ah, ngh, that’s… Ah…? W-wait, suddenly they’re all—they’re coming this way…! Straight toward us, oh gods, what do we do…?”

The woman who had willingly hidden behind the terrace curtains now flustered in panic. And for good reason—the distance between the terrace and the knights was deceptively short, and elven strides were swift, far quicker than a human’s. Many of them walked at a pace she’d have to sprint to match.

He gave her flustered left b*****k a light pinch and whispered low,

“It’s fine.”

“Ah—! Y-yes?”

“Haven’t I told you before? This hall is woven with countless spells. We can hear their voices from outside and tell who they are, but they can’t. Even if the curtains were drawn, the windows don’t show inside—at most, they might notice the terrace window shaking a little.”

“Ah…”

It was only natural that, as she squirmed, every single thing she’d done with him here came rushing back. Even if the curtains were mostly closed, they were still so close to the outside… Had she been too loud? The thought came too late.

The moment she felt relieved by Cassis’ explanation, the curtain separating them was flung open with a cheerful swish. Just as she turned her head in alarm at the approaching golden-haired knights—

“Mmph…!”

His tongue, as if waiting for this, pressed in hungrily, resuming the unfinished kiss. The velvety, coiling sensation made her lashes tremble uncontrollably. Evelyn staggered on her feet, legs nearly giving way, until his arm locked around her waist, pulling her firmly against him. Only then did she steady herself—but the breath he stole from her grew shallower by the second.

Just as her head began to loll to the side, his tongue slid out and began tracing her cheek. Today, he was like a serpent. The cunning fingers gripping her waist, teasing along her ribs… the relentless press of his tongue, hollowing her cheek with each deliberate thrust… then the slow drag of his lips along her jaw, painting her skin wet with each lingering lick…

Everything about him was maddening.
