Chapter 129
Evelyn didn’t run away—perhaps she had been waiting for this moment even more desperately than he had. He leaned in closer, pressing her body flush against his, savoring the sensation of her full b*****s yielding softly against him. Warm, pliant, fragile—like a leaf that refused to wither even past its season, he held her tight, as if he could keep her from crumbling.
Suddenly, an image flashed through his mind—Evelyn floating in the summer lake, only her head bobbing above the water. She wasn’t a water nymph who could swim as effortlessly as breathing, so he could never just let her venture into the lake alone. No, she would need his hands—hands designed to protect—to shield her properly.
Deep in his own thoughts, Cassis swept her up in one arm, carrying her to safety as if avoiding a raging current. Her head rested on the pillow, her body sank into the plush seat, and when her limbs flailed, threatening to be drenched by the imagined tide, his legs blocked her escape completely.
Crinkle. The festival documents crumpled pitifully beneath his shin, but he paid them no mind. If they stayed there, they’d only keep rustling, crushed further with every shift—annoying. With a clean kick, he sent them flying, clearing the bed. A smirk curled at the corner of Cassis’ lips.
“That’s everything you need to know. Ah… right. There was one more thing.”
“What is it?”
His perfectly balanced lips tilted in amusement.
“The Holy Land. They’ve officially announced that your tree is under their protection. You don’t even need an identity badge to enter now. Evelynn, you can visit your tree whenever you want. Though it’d be best if you went with me or Ruba.”
Ah…
He’d been thinking of her. A strange pride swelled in her chest, but thanking him now felt… complicated. The way she lay beneath him, staring up with only her eyes—this wasn’t the right moment for gratitude. Her lips parted uselessly.
There was one more thing on her mind, though. The festival, the tree—all settled. But the picnic remained. That promise he’d made, to devote days to her alone.
But what about the picnic outside the city?
She couldn’t bring herself to ask. Even if he’d been the one to suggest both the festival and the outing, Evelynn still struggled to demand anything from Cassis outright. Maybe she never would.
The sudden situation of being pinned beneath him also made it equally difficult to bring up any other matters. Evelyn heard the sound of the sash on her amber-yellow velvet robe loosening and sliding away. Before she could even tighten it, the robe—now slack—slid off his hands in an instant, the sensation of its folds slipping away strangely exhilarating.
Beneath it, the undergown she had properly fastened clung to her like a thin dress, showcasing her flawless figure. When she had first put it on, she loved how it traced her curves, cascading like droplets of water, smooth and cool against her skin—so much so that she hadn’t understood why she needed to wear anything over it at all. Now, at this moment, she was beginning to grasp the reason.
One layer, then another. And once the final layer beneath was gone, she would be bare. Only three layers of protection stood between her and complete exposure.
“Hng…!”
Even the elegant undergown, so carefully chosen, yielded effortlessly to his touch, slipping from her arms like a lightweight shawl before pooling at her waist and then sliding uselessly past her thighs, dropping to the floor. In the blink of an eye, she was naked, trembling as his hot breath washed over her skin. Now, there was nothing left to shield her.
“Ah…”
“Are you nervous?”
His question carried a strange, heated weight. It felt like tasting the warmth of summer days yet to come, and she shook her head.
“If you mean… this, then no.”
Evelyn could now confidently speak to the rapid beating of her own heart. In this moment—being handled so thoroughly, loved and cared for like a delicate nymph in his hands—she adored it.
His approaching face bypassed her trembling lips, descending instead to the soft swell of her chest. Ah, even this greedy beginning was good.
Had she been deprived of kisses, she might have complained—but Evelyn had never known such a grievance. Those lips had pressed against hers, marked her, countless times before, leaving no room for longing. If she waited, they would eventually return—sucking at her b*****s, the backs of her hands, and lower still—until she was breathless…
Once again, the memory of the first time he took my b****t into his mouth resurfaced. Back then, I was too flustered and ashamed to think straight—so when had I started craving this so desperately?
I know why. Of course I do. Every time he does this, my breath grows ragged, my chest heaving. When I catch his lips with mine, the lack of air turns my vision white, leaving me helpless. But when it’s not his kiss but his mouth on my b*****s, I can still breathe—steady, uneven gasps—letting me feel him deeper. I can watch him, fully lost in devouring me…
