Chapter 61
Even though she wanted to believe that, having seen it with her own eyes, she was terrified. She could barely contain her embarrassment during her night with Cassis, but this place was absolutely unbearable.
When Evelyn, horrified after learning the truth, tried to escape, Nike firmly grabbed her arm.
“I’m not finished speaking. It’s just the two of us, so there’s nothing to be embarrassed about, right? We’re both nymphs.”
“Let, let me go.”
“Evelyn. Don’t you understand yet? I’m not criticizing you for keeping the innocent mind you had when you were human. It’s just that now you’ve become a nymph, so it’s fine to be true to a nymph’s desires.”
“…”
Nike’s earnest tone made her waver. However, as if mocking her weak resolve, the very subject Nike had brought up outside the temple came rushing back to her ears like waves.
“I saw something the day I first met you. You and His Majesty the King were quite intimately entwined in front of the sanctuary door. It didn’t seem like… you were merely sharing energy through light contact such as hands or kisses for the sake of your weak body. In my eyes, emotions clearly overflowed beyond duty. Isn’t that right?”
“That’s not true!”
Though she impulsively denied it, Nike easily released her arm and tried to reason with her.
“Listen, Evelyn. I know you’ve been struggling because the elves haven’t been fond of you since you came to Jupiter Castle. But it’s been the same for me all along. Elves are more exclusive than you might think. They even show their territorial nature to the spirits they command.”
“…….”
The existence of someone who observed and understood the hardships she had experienced. Someone she had desperately wanted… While it wasn’t enough to make her nose tingle with emotion, Nike’s honest confession was sufficient to shake her heart.
“Because I’m the nymph who symbolizes Jupiter itself, they act respectfully, but there are few elves who genuinely care for and love me. To be honest, among elves born within the last hundred years, it’s fair to say there are none. At best, just the elders? I swear.”
“Lady Nike…”
Evelyn’s gaze wavered.
Yes, even reflecting on the earlier incident, it was obvious. Nike had stepped forward to clarify that climbing the stone wall was forbidden, but that elf maintained a haughty attitude until the end. If they were afraid of being disliked by Nike, if not by her, they would have at least apologized.
“Whew! I didn’t mean to talk about depressing things. What I want to say is, after all this, it’s this: if you want to progress to a stage beyond just having a sticky relationship with His Majesty the King. Seduce him freely. Just make it so he can’t escape from the trap that is you.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
The timid Evelyn persistently refused to reveal her secret and fragile inner feelings. Even if she loved him, even if she confessed her love, what would change? Rather, she would only disappoint Cassis and be driven from the bedroom.
Nike shook her head with a look of resignation.
“Haah, alright. You’ve had your entire living environment completely turned upside down, so you might feel the need to be cautious about everything. Anyway, remember this. During the time when nymphs flourished, this Jupiter Castle was nothing short of a crucible of pleasure.”
“What…?”
“Think about it. Who do you think is responsible for nymphs being raised to engage in what amounts to group s****l activities since ancient times? I’m telling you, they learned it all from the elves! You probably don’t know because you rarely leave the Hall of Glory and never go out in the evenings, but take a day to hide and observe.”
“Where exactly am I supposed to be looking?”
As she asked in confusion, Nike put a finger to her chin, lost in thought.
“Hmm, where would be good? Ah! You know that Delphinium Garden next to the agora? The flower stalks have been growing well lately, making it quite lush.”
Nike’s words conjured a vague scene in her mind. The meadow that had only been a sea of green when she watched performances at the tower with him now displayed beautiful waves of delphinium flowers whenever the wind blew. Evelyn sometimes sneaked near the tower, away from elven eyes, to watch the waves of flowers undulating in the breeze.
The flowers surely couldn’t be at fault, so it was puzzling why Nike mentioned them. Perhaps she was about to personify flower spirits?
“And so…?”
“If you look carefully among those flowers, you’ll find spaces where the grass is bent and mercilessly pressed down. What do you think that is? That’s exactly where elves engage in their promiscuous affairs. From what I know, around sunset, there are elf couples who collapse and entangle on that grass amid moans.”
Evelyn’s face, which had remained pale since Cassis was mentioned, now flushed red with embarrassment.
“T-t-that can’t be true. That place may be called a flower garden, but it’s completely exposed on all sides…. Wait a minute. Couples? You mean there are more than just two people going there?!”
“That’s the elven identity I’ve been telling you about all along! Sigh, if you don’t believe me, go see for yourself. Today or tomorrow. Ah! Come to think of it, today would be ideal. The sentinels have returned, so they’ll obviously be looking for the lovers they left behind at the castle to release their pent-up feelings. Passionately, hehe.”
“E-enough.”
