Chapter 21
Raymond wanted to be loved by Yulia. Now and always. He didn’t want the warmth in her heart to cool even slightly.
Even if they were fated by the goddess, Raymond knew well that all love required effort. As the heir, he had received a wide range of education. The most important lesson was this:
– The human heart is always changeable and cannot be trusted. That is what it means to be human. –
Raymond was confident that his own heart wouldn’t change. But Yulia was different. In both her previous life and this one, she was human. A pure human.
So, he had to make an effort to win her heart.
He would never let Yulia even think of looking at another man. He was glad, at least, that he had a reasonably good appearance in this life.
‘I’ll take good care of this body and show myself in the best light to my master.’
Raymond resolved to use his beauty tactics for the long haul.
First, the tailor, eyes reddened with emotion, rushed in and measured his entire body. Swish, swish. The tape measure ran across Raymond’s body like a living creature.
“Please turn to the left.”
“Please flex your muscles.”
Raymond faithfully followed the tailor’s instructions. When the lengthy measuring session was finally over, and the tailor stepped back looking satisfied, three beauticians immediately pounced.
They sat Raymond in a chair and moved their hands quickly and diligently.
“Clean and neat hands and toenails symbolize hygiene. All beauty begins with cleanliness.”
The beautician carefully trimmed his nails. The silver file in his hand moved gracefully. The intensity of his gaze was like watching a knight’s sword dance.
“You must pay attention to your nose hair as well, Your Highness. Stray hairs in everyday settings are one of the biggest turn-offs for women.”
Raymond’s nose hairs were neatly trimmed.
“And it’s best to begin managing hair loss in advance. A full head of hair is one of a man’s greatest charms.”
Everyone in the room nodded deeply. Raymond thought of the Empire’s sword masters. Two of the three had notably… breezy-looking scalps.
So even sword masters couldn’t avoid baldness. Hmm. He regretted not having taken an interest in maintaining his appearance sooner.
While Raymond lamented time lost, the scalp massage came to an end.
“Among all colors, there are always those that suit one best. Knowing your best colors helps you maximize your charm.”
“Your Highness, we’ve prepared your outfits in colors blessed by winter and dawn, but to find the optimal shade among those, we’ll need to do a little testing.”
Swish swish swish. The fashion designer held up fabrics in various hues against Raymond’s body, mentioning names of colors he’d never heard of. Behind him, an assistant eagerly scribbled down notes.
“Oh my? Pink suits Your Highness far better than expected.”
Of course it did. He had been pink all over in his past life.
“When it comes to scent, personal preference is key, so we must be careful. If Her Highness has a fragrance she likes, we’ll use that as a base. Blended with Your Highness’s natural scent, I promise it will become an intoxicating aroma.”
With that final, confident declaration from the perfumer, the team—coveted even by the imperial palace—quickly and delicately completed their work and stepped back.
Their faces were full of satisfied smiles.
Fufufufufu.
Even with just a bit of styling, he shone this brightly. How much more dazzling would he become with regular maintenance?
They had only seen nobles who beautified themselves to show off to others. Seeing a Grand Duke dress himself up purely for one person made them feel proud and warm inside.
