Chapter 146
“Wow, the energy…”
The energy surged in all at once.
Ashtel’s eyes sparkled with a fragrant glow as she turned her attention to the unconscious Payne.
‘Oh no. I guess that felt too good.’
Payne had just reached his peak, and now he had fainted—there could be no other reason.
Ashtel licked her lips, placed a small kiss on his forehead, and left the room.
Outside, Jo had placed Duvalkan on the table and was watching him with a knife in hand.
“Sis! What are you doing?”
“Just making sure he doesn’t wake up. The knight’s recovery is quick.”
“Well, put it down first…”
She had never been hit by Jo’s fist before, but it was strong enough to knock out even a mid-level demon in one blow.
With that kind of force, no matter how tough a knight was, Duvalkan wouldn’t be recovering quickly after being struck at the back of the head.
“Did you see Payne earlier? Do you need to check something?”
“No.”
“Then why are you here?”
“To see your human.”
“Are you done now?”
“No.”
Ashtel puffed out her lips.
“Sis, just say it all at once.”
“Sister Chacha was worried. She was afraid you’d suffer because of a human.”
“So?”
“I help.”
“You’re going to help me?”
“Yes.”
It seemed that Jo, who had been staying in the human world, had received a message from Chacha.
‘They must have had plenty of chances to meet since they both spent time in the human world.’
They had a deep connection, and the exchange of information was vast.
‘I think I understand the situation now, but…’
Ashtel scrutinized Jo with a doubtful expression.
If Sermedes was like a lifeless puppet, Jo seemed more like a stone statue.
She was beautiful, as expected of a succubus and a fruit of Asti, but it was hard to read her intentions, and her actions were as blunt as rough stone.
“How are you going to help?”
“I can handle the paladin.”
Jo expertly twirled a dagger, showing she had a particular talent for killing.
‘Sis Jo is really something else.’
Jo had no interest in draining energy but seemed very focused on the act of killing. She appeared to be waiting for Ashtel’s command.
But as Ashtel had said earlier, she wasn’t planning to send Duvalkan to the afterlife just yet.
‘This might be my chance while Payne is unconscious.’
She needed to have a deeper conversation with Duvalkan.
“Sis, tie this man up for me first.”
“Okay.”
Jo pulled out a sturdy rope used to tie down wild animals and, without a moment’s hesitation, securely bound Duvalkan.
Once Ashtel confirmed that Duvalkan couldn’t move, she turned to Jo and asked.
“How do we wake up the fainted human?”
“Cold water.”
“Just pour it on him?”
“Yes.”
At just the right moment, the bathwater Ashtel had been using earlier had cooled down.
She scooped up a bucket of it and splashed it straight onto Duvalkan, but he didn’t even stir.
“Move aside.”
This time, Jo spread her large palm and slapped Duvalkan hard across the face.
“Ugh!”
The effect was immediate.
“Du… Duvalkan? Are you awake?”
At this point, it was starting to feel a bit pitiful.
Ashtel leaned in over Duvalkan’s face, and he, with his dazed vision slowly coming into focus, muttered in confusion.
“…an angel?”
“Excuse me?”
She had no idea what kind of delusion he was having.
“Sue, one more time?”
“Yes, please.”
After receiving another slap to the other cheek, Duvalkan finally snapped out of it, staring blankly at Ashtel and Jo as he opened his mouth wide.
“Mi-Miss. What on earth is going on?”
“Tell me exactly what you mean by the knight squad being dispatched.”
“What?”
“When, where, and under whose command are they moving?”
“Are you threatening me? A paladin?”
Duvalkan widened his eyes, but unfortunately, with his swollen cheeks, he didn’t look as intimidating as he probably intended.
As Jo raised her fist again, Duvalkan turned his gaze away and sighed deeply.
“How about you release me first, and then we talk? We don’t need to do this.”
He kept his mouth shut despite the beating. Did he still think I was a joke?
“No, this is exactly how it needs to be.”
Ashtel summoned a magic circle above her head.
In an instant, the magic circle passed over her from head to toe, and after it faded, her brilliant blonde hair, kissed by sunlight, fell loosely.
“How about now? Does my threat seem more convincing?”
Duvalkan’s mouth hung open in disbelief.
He couldn’t even utter a sound of protest, staring at Ashtel with a vacant gaze. When his eyes landed on her black lingerie, which subtly revealed her skin, his ears turned bright red.
“Put some clothes on!”
“You’re complaining about clothes too?!”
Fortunately, his simple reaction quickly faded.
Duvalkan hid his nervousness as he asked,
“Could it be… you’re a succubus?”
“Yes.”
“Miss Maid too?”
“Yes.”
“Then what about Father Payne…?”
“I kidnapped him.”
Only after confirming her gently fluttering leather wings and the inverted heart-shaped tail did Duvalkan harden his expression.
“So you were the one tormenting Father Payne.”
“Speaking rudely. Not allowed.”
Bam! He shed a tear after being struck.
