Chapter 186
Seeing her eldest sister, the tears she’d held back burst forth.
Ashtel clung to Sermedes, sobbing.
Though she didn’t know how to hold back tears, thinking of Payne’s suffering made her feel she shouldn’t cry louder, so she stifled her voice and let tears fall heavily.
Naturally, a weight settled on Sermedes’s chest.
“Did the human hurt you?”
She saw through the situation immediately.
Only one person could bring such an expression to Ashtel’s face.
Payne—the poor priest.
“What did he say to you?”
“I… sob… hurt Payne.”
“If it’s from you, then he should accept the pain gladly.”
But Sermedes was just Ashtel’s sister blinded by love.
How dare he reject the youngest’s love? Did he have no shame? About to disparage Payne, Sermedes met Ashtel’s tear-streaked eyes.
Over the long years, unlike Carmen, Ashtel had never loved a human but had many cherished family members.
Knowing the meaning of love and what it means to protect it, she chose to remain silent.
Sermedes wiped her expression clean and hugged Ashtel. Fortunately, Ashtel sensed her sister’s comfort and relaxed without protest.
“Sue…”
After hearing the news, other sisters from the demon realm appeared.
Juvia and Liz carefully approached Ashtel.
“I’ll hug you too. Don’t cry.”
Juvia, wrapped in soft wool, first hugged Ashtel’s waist. Ashtel didn’t resist and sobbed, holding both Sermedes and Juvia.
Liz, however, stood a little apart and awkwardly placed her hand on Ashtel’s shoulder.
“You’ll forget soon.”
She couldn’t offer the warm hugs like Sermedes or Juvia. Their long conflict made her unable to understand her sister’s love for Payne.
Just a human. Just a mere human. Why was she crying and making such a fuss?
Still, if Ashtel was sad, she was sad; if she was in pain, she was in pain.
Liz still felt displeasure toward Ashtel but cared all the same, if not as much as the others.
Though not equal to the other sisters.
“Sue, hang in there.”
At Liz’s words, Ashtel finally broke into uncontrollable sobs.
Hearing her cries, the other sisters also embraced her.
It was cozy and sweet, but the huge hole in her heart couldn’t be filled. She should have seen Payne’s face one last time.
The final farewell shouldn’t have ended like this.
“Wa—wait!”
Wrapped in her sisters’ arms, Ashtel raised her head at a familiar voice from afar.
She wiped her tears, sniffled once, and cleared her vision, seeing something that shouldn’t be here.
“…Duval?”
Why was that guy here? Ashtel’s tears dried instantly. She pushed through her sisters and rushed outside.
“Sis Hela, why is he here?”
“Ah, about that…”
“I told you to send him back to the human world!”
“No, that wasn’t you.”
Carmen answered, adjusting her glasses and shrugging.
“Wasn’t that Roman’s request?”
“It was my request too!”
“You asked to return that knight as well?”
Technically, Van demanded it, but Ashtel nodded.
Carmen kept silent for a moment, then scratched her chin and pointed at Moablon.
“Sorry, but Moa wanted to keep him a little longer. Just one more week.”
“What?”
“She’s going to erase his memories anyway, so this should be fine, right?”
“I’ll make sure his limbs stay intact!”
Moa, back in her child form, grinned cutely and stuck out her tongue.
Duvalkan, hopping on two bound feet, turned pale.
“Van came looking for me, right? Isn’t that so, Miss Maid?”
“Uh, yes…”
“Please, send me back! You promised to erase my memories!”
Now that she saw, he wore only a thin pair of underwear, carrying some mischievous toys all over.
The whirring vibrations made Duvalkan collapse with a moan.
“Roman disguised as you already escaped, so you don’t need to keep the promise with that Van guy, right?”
Carmen smirked and said,
“Yeah, everyone’s silent about it, but we roughly know what Van did through Roman.”
“Damn that paladin.”
How dare he give holy water to their precious youngest?
Ashtel had made up her mind, but for her sisters, this was just the beginning.
