Chapter 190
‘That’s the one.’
His hair was as black as the night sky, and his cold, emotionless face matched Ashtel’s description of Van.
‘He might know something.’
But capturing someone was much harder than killing them.
Liz hesitated for a moment; she’d only come to beat Van up, not interrogate him for information.
How could they catch him without causing trouble and ask about Payne’s execution?
Just then, someone approached behind them, footsteps rustling softly.
“May Katzel’s grace be with you.”
It was a wizard with violet hair—Roman.
“You’re the wizard?”
“Yes. the Pope called for me.”
“I see. I’ll escort you.”
“I’ll be in your care.”
Roman moved on, but threw a glance at the invisible sisters, even winking as if he could see them.
‘Carmen…’
How did that human grow so skilled that Chacha’s invisibility didn’t fool him?
Still, Liz didn’t panic—this was an opportunity.
She knew well about Carmen’s humans.
She whispered to Chacha.
“Sis, let’s use that human.”

Thirteen hours after parting with Payne, Ashtel hit rock bottom.
Waves of loss, emptiness, despair, and heartbreak threatened to swallow her whole.
Being with Sermedes or her other sisters didn’t help, nor did lying beside the Asti tree.
‘I miss Payne.’
Separation made it painfully clear—she loved him. His gentle, melancholic smile, the kindness he showed only to children, even his upright, honest nature.
Those weren’t exactly traits a demon would admire, but she loved him all the same. Maybe this was fate.
“Ugh… uh, ngh…”
“Sue, look at this. He gets even harder every time you watch.”
“Yeah…”
“He’s getting wilder from being ignored.”
To snap Ashtel out of her gloom, Moablon had been entertaining her by dragging Duvalkan around.
Duvalkan, legs in the air and bound by Hela’s tentacles, moaned over and over as Carmen’s magical d***o pounded into him.
“D-damn demons… ah!”
You’d think he would’ve given in by now, but even if he wasn’t much of a priest, Duvalkan’s pride was as stubborn as his lifted hips.
But even this spectacle couldn’t distract Ashtel.
Lying in the grass, she gazed at the strange demon realm sky. The clouds drifting by looked like Payne’s toes, and tears welled up in her eyes.
‘When will I be okay again?’
If it took as long as Sermedes had lived, she might as well start hibernating now.
Maybe if she just slept like Juvia, everything would fade away with time.
Maybe she should just go to sleep now.
The moment she thought that, the air cracked open and a dimensional gate appeared.
“What’s this?”
Hela, who’d been tormenting Duvalkan, stepped in front.
A man with jet-black hair stumbled out of the portal, arms and legs tightly bound.
“Wha—?!”
It was the familiar paladin, and right behind him, Liz and Chacha struggled through the gateway.
“Luckily, we got the coordinates right.”
“Long time no see, everyone!”
This time, even Ashtel couldn’t ignore it.
She sprang to her feet and stared blankly at Van, who had collided with Hela.
“Sis Liz? What’s going on?”
“Ah, um…”
Since Chacha was the one living in the human world, she wouldn’t know what Van had done to her. That meant Liz probably brought him, and she was darting her eyes around just like she did whenever she was about to lie in front of Sermedes.
“I told you not to mess with Van!”
“Wait, Sue. Just listen for a second, okay?”
Before her little sister’s horns could sprout in anger, Chacha quickly stepped in.
“We went to Mediale together and heard news about your human.”
The surging magic in Ashtel calmed a bit. She glared at Chacha.
“What is it?”
“They’re about to execute him.”
“…What?”
Wait.
What did she just say?
“Payne? He’s going to be executed?”
“Huh?! Ex-executed?!”
Duvalkan shouted, only to have his mouth covered by a tentacle.
Hearing his old friend’s voice, Van turned to look at Duvalkan.
“Diar!”
“Van!”
It was a tearful reunion for them, but not so much for Ashtel.
