“It’s a relief you’ve recovered.”
“Wouldn’t it be better to say that directly to her?”
Payne started to reply, but was startled when he turned and found a figure standing there: a purple-eyed wizard dressed in a gray suit and jet-black cloak.
“Roman?”
“It’s been a while, husband of the youngest princess.”
“Let’s not use that weird title.”
“How have you been? Is your health alright?”
“…I’m fine.”
This suspicious wizard, who was eyeing him with a sly smile and sharp, slanted eyes, was someone Payne had gotten to know better through Ashtel.
‘Payne, as for your pheromones, we can deal with those, but the curse needs to be dispelled. My sisters can’t help, so Roman said he’d do it!’
‘Roman… ‘
‘Oh, Sis Carmen’s human male!’
He was also the one who’d helped Payne meet Van at the stables before.
‘So that’s how it all happened.’
After understanding the situation, Roman would stop by occasionally—his reason being that he was working on a magical device that could draw out built-up demonic energy without the help of a demon.
“Did you finish it today?”
“No, of course not. It’s not that quick to finish.”
Then why was he here?
Payne shot Roman a questioning look. Roman just laughed softly and dropped a bombshell.
“The youngest’s sisters would like to visit.”
“…Huh?”
“At your house, I mean.”
Here? Seriously?
Payne stared at Roman, clearly anxious. But Roman gave no further explanation, as if that was all he had come to say.
Payne’s black eyes wavered.
“Um… when, exactly?”
“Probably soon.”
What?
Just then, Ashtel, who had been wandering in the field, let out a surprised “Oh!”
Payne turned quickly—at the same moment, a rift in space began to open beside her, a familiar dimensional gap.
“What in the world?”
Ashtel looked shocked, but she was already grinning.
Like Payne, she seemed to know exactly what this meant.
‘Oh no…’
But Payne couldn’t share her excitement. He rushed to Ashtel’s side and stared at the portal as it widened.
A moment later, several familiar faces tumbled out.
“Suuueee! Long time no see!”
“Youngest!”
“How have you been?”
“Wow, the water and air here are amazing!”
“Good morning.”
“Where’s Roman?”
In order, there was Ashtel’s ninth sister, Nluie; her seventh sister, Matys; the eleventh, Hela; the fifth, Chacha; the tenth, Jo; and finally, the eighth, Carmen.
Payne was already pale as a ghost, standing frozen and speechless.
But Ashtel just bounced in excitement, welcoming her sisters with pure joy.
“You guys! How did you get here? You came to see me?”
“Of course! Are you feeling better?”
“Yeah!”
The first to hug Ashtel was Hela.
Wrapped in her sister’s soft, ample arms and getting patted on the back, Ashtel was swept up in a wave of homesickness for the demon realm.
“Hela, you smell so good…”
“Don’t be such a perv.”
“That’s not an insult to a succubus, you know…”
“Get a grip, you’re human now.”
Carmen scolded as Ashtel leaned into her, inhaling the familiar scent of family.
“Suuuee, hug me too!”
“Come here, Sis Nluie!”
“I want in too.”
Nluie and Chacha joined the group hug.
Payne, left awkwardly to the side, finally came to his senses—only to avert his gaze, trying not to stare at the scantily clad succubi.
He’d seen them before, but it was still too much to look at so directly.
‘No, wait. They’re demons but still Ashtel’s sisters. I shouldn’t worry so much.’
Still, he ought to mention that dropping in unannounced like this was a problem.
They were at the edge of town, but there were still a lot of humans nearby.
If they wanted to see Ashtel, it would be better to meet somewhere deep in the woods.
“Hey, human.”
“…Yes?”
“Relax. Stop tensing up.”
At that, Jo, with hands as big as pot lids, gave Payne’s back a hearty smack. He bit back a groan, struggling to stay upright.
Finally, Ashtel noticed and hurried over.
“Jo! What are you doing?”
“Helping him calm down.”
“How is that supposed to calm him down? Why are you hitting my man?”
My man, she said.
Ashtel wrapped her arms around Payne, but he barely had time to feel comforted before he had to clamp down on his embarrassment.
His cheeks were burning, but he bit his lip, trying not to show it.
And then, as Ashtel’s slender fingers stroked his waist like downy feathers, a familiar heat shot through him.
Oh, crap. Not now.
