Chapter 39
Leonard’s resolve was unwavering.
No matter how much Sera understood him, he had to continue making an effort. Their young son would soon start speaking and recognizing things—he couldn’t risk hurting him in any way.
But still…
“I don’t think this is right.”
“What isn’t?”
Sera asked back coyly, feigning innocence with a completely unaffected expression. But her hands, in contrast, were wandering aimlessly beneath Leonard’s shirt.
With her delicate fingertips, she drummed lightly against his chest as if playing the piano. After thoroughly caressing his firm sides, she teasingly traced along his abs. Of course, none of this was an issue for Leonard. If anything, he welcomed it.
The only problem was the time and place.
Leonard glanced around anxiously. Just because they were surrounded by walls didn’t mean he could relax. After all, they were inside a moving, wheeled box—a carriage.
“Do we really have to do this here when we have a perfectly fine bedroom?”
Instead of answering, Sera slid her hand up along the dip at the small of his back. Leonard struggled to regulate his breathing, which threatened to turn ragged.
Was it because the setting was so inappropriate? Her touch felt even more provocative than usual.
The only relief was that the carriage wasn’t moving at the moment.
The runaway Crown Princess had returned to the palace without any resistance. But once they arrived, she refused to get out of the carriage, insisting that she needed to have a serious discussion with the Crown Prince.
So, the carriage was driven all the way to the storage depot.
She had even dismissed the escort knights. If this was supposed to be a private conversation, it was only natural that it would be a conversation of bodies.
Sera’s hand, which had been freely roaming beneath his shirt, suddenly slipped past his waistband.
Leonard drew in a sharp breath.
Then, as if it were an afterthought, Sera finally answered him—while firmly grasping him through the thin fabric of his undergarments.
“You don’t get it? What do you think will come to mind every time you ride in a carriage from now on?”
Leonard exhaled all at once.
She wasn’t wrong.
After tonight, every single time he stepped into a carriage, cleanliness would be the last thing on his mind. He would be too preoccupied figuring out ways to steal a moment with her.
From Leonard’s perspective, Sera was always right.
Even if it hadn’t been intentional, she had ultimately cured his mysophobia.
Others might think her methods were a little eccentric—and he himself had once thought she was the craziest person in all of existence—but to him, she was nothing short of a savior.
So there was no reason for him to object this time.
Leonard finished rationalizing it to himself and pulled off his gloves, one by one.
Sera understood better than anyone what that gesture meant. She was the only person he could touch with his bare hands. And the only person he wanted to touch with them.
Naturally, he had no intention of stopping her hand. On the contrary, the thin fabric between them felt increasingly bothersome.
Leonard, anticipating the pleasure to come, involuntarily jerked his hips. But annoyingly, Sera’s pace was excruciatingly slow.
It was as if she was deliberately drawing it out, taking her time to tease him.
Leonard frowned, frustrated by the torturous touch.
“Enough teasing.”
“Teasing? Me? When? How?”
Sera blinked adorably, feigning innocence.
Leonard had no way to counter her brazen provocation.
Taking in a deep breath, he suddenly pulled her into his arms.
“Ah!”
Sera had no time to resist. Leonard effortlessly lifted her and settled her onto his lap, and naturally, this meant her little adventure inside his pants was over.
Having lost the upper hand, Sera pouted in protest.
“What’s this all of a sudden?”
“The seat felt too cold. You should sit somewhere warm.”
Leonard replied smoothly, shamelessly.
There was no question where he had picked up such boldness.
So this was his challenge to her?
Fine.
She had no intention of letting him take the lead so easily.
Sera yanked up the cumbersome layers of her skirt to her knees. Then, she swung one leg over, straddling him directly.
Now completely trapped between her legs, Leonard smirked crookedly.
Sera lifted her chin as if to say, ‘What are you going to do now?’ Unlike Sera, who refused to lose, Leonard had no intention of trying to win.
But Sera hated being given an easy victory just as much as she hated losing.
That left him only one option.
Leonard reached out as if to support her waist. Then, without warning, he yanked down the back of her dress.
The wide neckline slipped from her shoulders, and with a faint rip, a seam somewhere gave way.
