Chapter 6.7
“Richard, I won’t blame you for whatever choice you make, for it’s the author’s meddling beyond your control.”
“The author? Who is that?”
“Someone who’s interfering with us.”
“I don’t like that. Should I kill him?”
The laughter in Richard’s eyes turned cold. Judy Esther shook her head. Such a being was like a god in this world-impossible to find.
“Anyone who implants strange ideas in you and causes you anxiety is better eliminated.”
“If I could, I would. I’m not that easy to deal with.”
Judy Esther looked up at the sky. Was the author watching from up there? Or were all their actions on the ground being recorded as printed words on paper?
“The author may have cast me as a supporting character, but in my life, I’m the protagonist. And you’re my male lead. I won’t give up to the very end.”
“You’re the heroine to me, too.”
“Then let’s write our own story. No matter Judy Esther’s circumstances or Richard’s inner struggles, let’s give it everything we’ve got.”
Judy Esther smiled brightly.
“Are you saying you’ll marry me?”
“Richard, I want you to propose to me on the last night of the ball, in front of everyone.”
“If that’s what you want.”
Call it selfishness if you like. Being with Richard now made her so happy. Call it greed if you want. She’s crazy about Richard, who only looks at her. She’s being selfish and greedy, but at the same time, Judy Esther is also determinedly prepared for it all.
The appearance of the heroine, Ella.
She’s not sure what happens after that. It remains to be seen whether they will be bound by fate like in the original story, or if they’re just passing through. Until then, she will love him with all her heart and act without regret.
Today is the fifth day. Including today, there are three balls left. According to what she found out, Ella has not yet appeared at the royal palace. The blue-eyed blonde who arrived in a pumpkin carriage wearing glass slippers had yet to make her debut. It’s unknown when Ella will appear among the remaining three balls. Judy Esther simply guesses it will be on the last day.
“I should prepare to make sure you won’t be disappointed.”
“Richard, please don’t do the ring ceremony that day.”
“Why?”
Judging by Richard’s expression, it seemed he had already prepared one. Judy Esther did not say that she didn’t know whose finger the ring would be placed on.
“As long as you’re there, you’re all I need. And I want you to put the ring on my finger at the end of the Founding Festival.”
“Is there a reason for that?”
Judy Esther raised her hand and touched his cheek.
On that day, all I need is for your heart to be whole. What’s important is not a common ring or a proposal event that anyone can do, but that you are by my side.”
“I’ll do as you wish, but sometimes I wonder what you’re thinking.”
Richard reached out and brushed her pink hair aside. His touch was so gentle it made her nose tingle. She wanted nothing more than a future where she and Richard lived happily ever after, the perfect ending she had longed for since childhood.
“If it’s because of the Marquis of Emers, don’t worry. I’ll handle everything. Surely, I’m the crown prince–-I won’t lose to the Marquis.”
“Please don’t be too harsh. I don’t want my father collapsing.”
“Trust me. I’m finding a way to properly win over the Marquis.”
“I look forward to it.”
