Chapter 1.3
But god didn’t listen to even the slightest bit of her prayer. Perhaps god was punishing her for her shameless greed. For deceiving everyone to become Luke’s governess, and still being greedy enough to want to keep watching his future.
Even when the next evening came, her heat cycle showed no sign of subsiding. Perhaps it was because the untouched meals had piled up in front of her door, but Luke’s voice when he came again was steeped in deeper worry than the day before.
“If you’re so ill that you can’t even eat, I really should call a doctor.”
Along with those words came a click, the sound of the doorknob turning, and Yuria’s heart sank.
“Luke!”
Forgetting that she had locked the door firmly, Yuria shouted. Perhaps because she had never once raised her voice until now, silence fell beyond the door, but Yuria sent Luke back with the same reason as the day before.
She added that he shouldn’t worry, because she would get up the next day. But even on the third day, her heat cycle didn’t subside at all. It seemed the instinct that had stayed quiet for so long had come back fiercely, as if making up for the time it had missed.
Luke knocked on her door again at the same hour. Unlike the previous day, when his worry had been strong, his voice was firm.
“This can’t go on any longer, Teacher. I’ll call a doctor at once, so please open the door.”
“No, not the doctor!”
Yuria cried out urgently. She couldn’t let the fact that she was an omega be discovered in this way. The thought of having her lies exposed while she panted and revealed her ugly lust in front of everyone was horrifying just to imagine.
Would it be better to send him away and leap from the window or hang herself instead? Wouldn’t that be a less shameful end? Her mind, with reason paralyzed, wandered in search of extreme solutions. It was then that Luke continued.
“Whether you need a doctor or not, I’d better check that myself.”
At the same time as his words, the sound of the door lock coming undone rang out. It seemed he had brought a master key. No. Not like this. Anything but this. With a scream that couldn’t form words, Yuria lifted herself from the bed. But her trembling legs wouldn’t obey her. The moment she set foot on the floor, Yuria collapsed, and the door opened in front of her.
“Ah…”
Collapsed on the floor, Yuria looked up at Luke. There was no time to straighten her crooked glasses. Not that her glasses were the only thing disheveled, since her hair, her clothes, and everything else was in a mess.
With despair in her heart, Yuria met Luke’s eyes. The scent of her pheromones must have been filling the room, so the moment the door opened, Luke must have realized that she was an omega.
Luke stared at Yuria in silence for a long while. Seeing his bluish-purple eyes, widened in surprise, gradually sink coldly, Yuria felt as if her heart were being torn apart. She was afraid of the reproach and contempt that would fill those eyes. She was afraid of the sight of herself, soon to be overtaken by his pheromones.
Luke pushed aside with the tip of his foot the piece of cloth that had been blocking the crack under the door, and spoke in a voice as cold as his attitude.
“You lied to me, Teacher. Two lies at that.”
The door seemed to close slowly behind him, and soon came the sound of the lock turning. As Yuria tried to back away while still sitting on the floor, her back was blocked by the bed.
Walking toward Yuria with steps as slow and heavy as an executioner’s, Luke opened his mouth again.
“You didn’t have a cold, Teacher, and you weren’t even a beta.”
“Please go back, Luke—”
Yuria barely managed to speak as she curled in on herself. Getting through a heat cycle with medication was only possible when there was no alpha nearby.
Because of the alpha pheromones that grew stronger the closer he came, even holding back her moans was difficult for Yuria.
That clean, warm scent, like summer trees, stirred obscenely through Yuria’s mind, and the tender flesh inside her body kept urging her for stimulation.
Now, more than having her secret discovered, she was far more afraid that she would lose her reason and pull him into bed. If she was going to receive contempt and reproach anyway, she wanted to preserve at least the final line.
