At the top floor of the Mage Tower, in a space with a small garden, Roina was deep in thought.

Once again, Fides had brought sandwiches, assorted fruits, and other food for her. Roina accepted the food Fides gave her and ate it well.

A gentle breeze blew, and a fresh scent came from the surrounding plants. Although the season was winter, it was a place that remained ever green. It felt like the cradle of Quies.

As that thought crossed her mind, Roina hugged her knees. The matter with Quies had truly been sudden, but it was a great relief that it had been resolved well.

In the end, she had been able to restore what she had disrupted. The women who had suddenly returned after crossing decades of time would probably cause confusion, but Quies would do his best to help from their side, and the Amasto territory would also do everything it could to recover the damages suffered by the territory’s people.

“Fia, did you know Quies was living like that?”

“Uh-huh, no. We just share fragments of emotions. Thoughts closer to the source. Lately, Quies had only felt joy and peace, so I didn’t think anything might be wrong.”

I will listen well to Master. Squeeze.

Fides sat down in front of Roina’s knees and hugged them. It was her own form of expressing affection.

Roina stroked the spirit’s hair. It felt soft and fluffy, with no weight. Was this what it would feel like to touch a cloud?

“I’m sorry.”

“No, it’s not something you need to be sorry for.”

If anything, it was her fault from her past life. Roina sank back into thought again.

What exactly was the original novel she had known? Ever since she heard that Veronica was actually a fragment of magic, the whole matter had become confusing.

In that novel, there had never been a lady-in-waiting named Roina.

At first, she thought the original story had been twisted because of her own actions, but now that she knew the original heroine, Veronica, was merely a shadow imitating Roina, it had all become even more confusing. Then what had happened to the true original heroine?

“Fia.”

“Yes, Master!”

Fides responded with a bright smile. Her voice was full of affection for Roina. Roina thought that maybe she could share a bit of her worries with this spirit.

But how on earth should she explain it? Should she say, I actually know the future? I read about this place in a book? Yes, this story was a bit complicated to explain.

That was why, until now, she hadn’t thought to share this fact with anyone. But now, there were those who followed her wholeheartedly and believed in her. Roina gathered a bit of courage.

“Do you know anything about… before I came here?”

“Um, not in detail, but I know you came from another world!”

“…Yes, not just another world…”

She carefully chose her words. She really had no idea how to say it. Fides quietly watched Roina as she hesitated.

“Did you perhaps see the future before you came?”

“Uh, it’s kind of vague, but… I think it’s fair to say I saw a situation completely different from now.”

Fides nodded. Then, as if to reassure her, he patted her knee. It tickled a little.

“Master, seeing the future is something you were always able to do.”

“Me?”

“Yes, yes. A future where something important is different. You said so yourself, Master. That the form doesn’t matter, and it’s a future centered around you.

And from the moment you see it, fate changes, so it doesn’t go that way anymore—it becomes completely different.”

Hearing that left her a little dazed. Even though Roina hadn’t explained it clearly, Fides had given a remarkably good explanation. She stroked his head a little more in thanks.

“Did it help?”

“Yeah, it helped. But I’ll think about it a bit more.”

If what Fides said was right, then the original story she saw was a foresight of the future, and the reason it changed was because she had seen it. If that was the case, then since the change started with her, it was likely that the external events remained unchanged.

Roina’s expression darkened.

While she was lost in those thoughts, she sensed someone’s presence.

“Rager.”

Now, his white hair was neatly combed and suited him well, but considering the act they had shared, it was blasphemous how well he wore the pure white uniform of a temple knight. It was Rager.

“Yes, Lady Roina.”

“Is your body… feeling better?”

At those words, he blushed and lowered his head. The tips of his ears, now red, peeked out clearly between the strands of white hair.

“I… once again caused you trouble, Lady Roina. I’m sorry.”

“Ah, no. It’s not like that. Rager, your very existence was nearly shattered, so… that’s why I asked.”

When he heard that, Rager quietly clenched his fist tighter. With a slightly hesitant look, he glanced at her. The white fringe swayed, revealing the shape of his eyes. As he tried to read her expression, the corners of his eyes drooped slightly with a sorrowful air.

Roina was just as concerned about Rager. Even if it had been necessary for the contract, she couldn’t ignore the emotional resonance that had entangled them through such extreme pleasure.

Roina suddenly felt a wave of heat and began fanning herself with her hand.
