Chapter 159
“Huff, huff!”
“How can you be out of breath already after running so little! This way!”
Roina sensed that the time-stopping magic wouldn’t last long. So, she had been honest with Erika, saying they had to escape with all their might, and now was that moment.
Erika was leading Roina expertly, as if she knew all the geography of this back alley. Under her guidance, Roina ran frantically and escaped that place.
The feeling of omnipotence that had enveloped her in an instant had vanished without a trace, leaving behind only her exhausted and unwell physical condition. Rather, she was even more tired because she had used all her strength.
Erika was also aware of Roina’s condition, but they couldn’t stop now. They had to get to a safe place quickly.
She nimbly opened the back door of a dilapidated house, then pushed aside old and worn curtains and opened a window to enter another house behind it.
The paths she found were all like this. They moved by passing through places that were not paths at all, so Roina felt like her vision was spinning.
After following her and running around frantically like that, the two of them had arrived at a dead end before they knew it.
“This is.”
It seems like a dead end. Just as Roina was about to finish speaking, she met Erika’s eyes, which were full of certainty.
“It’s here.”
Erika narrowed her brow, bit her lip, and grabbed Roina’s shoulders, making her lean against the wall with her back to it. The cold and rough texture of the stone wall was felt behind her head.
“I’ll be back soon, so wait here quietly!”
“What? Ahh!”
Erika took a step back and threw a stone towards somewhere on the wall, and the wall that Roina was leaning against moved as a whole and turned around. Roina, who was very tense due to the sudden movement, stuck to the wall.
The changed view was inside some warehouse, and with a click, the ground beneath her suddenly tilted.
While she was flustered, her feet slipped, and she fell over as she was, and then she went down along the floor that had suddenly opened for some reason. She wanted to scream, but she covered her mouth, just in case. It was a structure like a slide, so she fell straight to the floor below and soon landed among soft straw.
She felt a cloud of what seemed to be chaff or dust spreading into the air. It smelled slightly musty, as if it wasn’t new. There was a slight nutty smell mixed with a faint moldy smell.
“Cough cough!”
“What’s that?”
This time, she couldn’t hold back and coughed, and a deep male voice popped out from inside. Roina was startled and turned her head. There, a man with spiky, short red hair carelessly swept back was looking at her with his arms crossed.
His eyes were slanted upwards, his eyebrows were thick, his body lines were thick, and the corners of his lips were turned down, so he looked very fierce. He was probably a mercenary, wearing tough leather pants, a linen shirt, and a simple belt on top. It had many pockets, so it was a shape that could store several daggers or small items.
“Uh, well.”
“No,”
But the man suddenly blushed as if he was embarrassed. And all of a sudden, he turned his head away and shouted. The tips of the man’s ears were completely red.
“What kind of woman is that, dress properly!”
“Ah…”
She couldn’t pay proper attention to her clothes because she was out of her mind. She was still wearing only a single, loose-fitting men’s shirt, and although she was instinctively pulling down the hem, it still barely covered her thighs, and the top buttons weren’t properly fastened, revealing her cleavage.
Only then did Roina’s face also slightly redden. No matter how much she had been through, she didn’t have the audacity to act shameless when the other person was embarrassed.
“Th, then, please give me some clothes!”
“Ugh! I thought it was Heath, but what,”
He didn’t seem to have any intention of listening to her properly. As he tried to leave the spot, Roina hurriedly got up and slipped down from the straw. After getting up unsteadily on the floor, she lost her balance and instinctively grabbed the man in front of her to avoid falling again.
With a very flustered look, he didn’t know where to grab her and hesitated, but eventually, he got caught up in her momentum and fell down with her.
Thud-
Her legs landed between the man’s legs. Without realizing it, Roina grabbed him for support and ended up on top of him, embracing his neck. He instinctively grabbed her waist with one hand. His other hand supported the floor, so he didn’t fall completely and ended up in a sitting position.
“……”
