Chapter 178
After that, Yoseph quickly conveyed several plans to the two of them. Jason and Erika listened attentively and nodded, and the four of them dispersed in their respective directions. Even on his way out, Jason looked at Roina with an expression that seemed like he wanted to say something, hesitating slightly, but she resolutely turned her gaze away from him. At that coldness, Jason had a face that looked like his ears would droop if he had any.
“Yoseph, is it really okay to entrust the Revolutionary Army’s part to just those two?”
“Hmm, it’s fine. Erika voluntarily took on the spy work, but originally she’s someone who plays the role of a chief of staff and leader in the Revolutionary Army.”
“Leader?”
“Yes, Jason is currently acting as the leader in her stead. As you can see, he seems unreliable, but he’s someone who keeps his word well.”
They were two people in more important positions than she had thought. Roina briefly thought that it was unexpected, but soon hurriedly followed Yoseph.
The preparation process after that was incredibly hectic. Originally, the preparations should have been done several days in advance, and the dressing up should have been done from the crack of dawn, but now they were trying to finish it in almost an hour or two.
Roina felt dizzy as she was tossed around by the frantically moving hands of the maids.
“It’s a relief that the dress that Roina was supposed to wear was already prepared, or it would have been a real disaster. You couldn’t possibly wear just anything, you know. You’re the one and only disciple of the Archmage.”
The maid in charge of Roina’s dressing was the talkative type. She chattered non-stop as she dressed Roina up. Thanks to her hands, Roina was dressed in a white and dazzling dress modeled after the Archmage’s ceremonial attire and was being ‘managed’ in an instant.
Roina was in a situation where she was so anxious that she felt like she was going crazy, with Lutan possibly being in danger. But this was something she had to go through anyway to see the ceremony up close.
Whether Roina was deep in thought or not, the maid babbled on, applying makeup and adding color to Roina’s face. She even muttered about how it might be better not to apply makeup at all since her skin was so clear, and she was torn about what to do. It was hard to tell if it was a habitual remark, her true feelings, or both.
Soon, the dressing up was finished, and the maids came over to check her dress and attire for the last time. Roina looked at the woman in the mirror with unfamiliar eyes. It was the Archmage’s dress, which was beautiful yet didn’t forget its sacredness and solemnity. On a white background, gold lines were added, creating a pattern that was both geometric and balanced.
Since there wasn’t enough time to do an updo, her bobbed hair was neatly combed and adorned with translucent flowers and veils, which made her look somewhat like a bride at first glance. A blue, teardrop-shaped sapphire necklace was wrapped around her white and smooth neck, and smaller earrings of the same shape adorned each of her ears. Anyone could see that she looked incredibly beautiful.
Roina belatedly realized that this was the first time she had been dressed up like this since coming to this world.
“You must have been short on time, thank you for your hard work.”
It was a flawless dressing. There was even a voice chattering about how she would have been much more beautiful if she had an updo, which was a shame.
“Lady Roina, are you ready…”
Yoseph, who had come after hearing that Roina was ready, froze on the spot. His heart throbbed. This was pain. The pain of a desperate unrequited love. At her dazzlingly beautiful appearance, his heart once again raced uncontrollably. His face flushed, and he couldn’t speak.
Perhaps it wouldn’t be so bad if the Archmage disappeared like this? Then there might be a chance. A devil whispered inside him. Yoseph merely silently, and once again, familiarly, suppressed the devil in his heart.
“…Yes. You are too, beautiful.”
Once again, he became a fool who could only express admiration in front of her. Would he ever be able to reveal this feeling and speak it out? The desperate desire and the wish for this relationship not to be broken clashed fiercely within him. He simply lowered his head.
His mind was only filled with the Archmage, but his eyes were solely focused on her. In front of her dazzlingly beautiful appearance, Yoseph couldn’t help but remain silent.
“Yeah. Let’s go.”
At that moment, Roina stood next to Yoseph. She wanted to go to the Imperial Palace as soon as possible and find out anything. A soft hand wrapped around Yoseph’s elbow. It was the gesture of an escort.
Roina thought. Just yesterday, she was in a position waiting to be rescued, but overnight, the tables had turned. The ways of the world are truly ironic.
She had to save Lutan this time, from the Crown Prince who had oppressed her. She, herself.
Roina clenched her fist tightly.
