Chapter 216
It was the day after that Roina left the Magic Tower. Rager, Jason, and Ethan stood beside her with expressions that seemed awkward and displeased.
Regardless, Roina simply said this.
“Fides. Please take good care of the Magic Tower.”
“Yes! I’ll protect it well!”
Roina stroked the necklace dangling below her neck once. It was the form that Amor had taken. Just before falling asleep again, she had begged to stay close to Roina and transformed into this form. It was because, although she would probably sleep a lot for a while, she could be carried around by Roina in this small form.
The pendant of the necklace was silver, a plain oval locket. It looked like an ordinary cast necklace with a flower-like pattern engraved on it. Inside the locket was a mirror. It was the smallest form of mirror that could be carried around. It was about the same size as the mirror fragment she had picked up.
And Roina looked around at the men around her. Ethan, who was looking only at Roina, Rager with an awkward expression, and Jason, who was displeased with the men on either side. Considering Rager, who had struggled due to the mana depletion, she had decided to go with all of her contractors this time, just in case. But seeing them all together like this, she felt quite uneasy.
“Everyone, don’t forget that you’ve all agreed to get along well with each other, right? All three of you are people who have formally contracted with me.”
“Hmph, I know.”
“Yes.”
“Understood.”
Their answers each reflected their individual personalities. Roina felt uneasy, but decided to trust them for now and moved her feet. The destination from now on was the former territory of the Castrello Kingdom. Thanks to the magic left in the Magic Tower, getting to Castrello wasn’t difficult, but since they also had to resolve the problems there, she didn’t know how long they would have to wander through that desert. Given Roina’s characteristic of not being able to use her power well in close combat, taking three men with excellent fighting skills was a good thing.
‘This is the best… right?’
It was probably right. As she stepped out of the Magic Tower, she was immediately met with dry and hot air. Roina quickly put the hood she had prepared on her head. It was Castrello, a city filled with heat.
The surroundings were lined with simply shaped buildings that seemed to be made by hardening white sand, and some plants were visible, as if an oasis was nearby. There were no pedestrians, and it was a street with alleys where the main road was subtly hidden by the buildings. She had left the destination setting here to Ethan, and it seemed he had set it well to a place that wouldn’t attract attention.
As Roina looked around, Ethan was standing still as if nothing was wrong, and Jason also seemed more okay than she had expected, but Rager looked noticeably distressed.
‘Well, he’s only ever lived in cold places…’
“Rager, just a moment.”
Roina reached out to Rager and hugged his neck. Rager obediently lowered his head at Roina’s touch.
Chu-
Roina kissed Rager and shared some of her mana with him. At the same time, she left some cold elements around him to keep him cool. She wasn’t as skilled in application as Lutan, so it wasn’t perfect yet, but it would be okay for a short while.
“Are you okay now? Bear with it for a little while.”
As Roina finished by putting a hood on Rager as well to prevent direct sunlight, she heard a voice shouting loudly from the side.
“Me too!!”
It was Jason, his face flushed red. Roina blinked in surprise. Jason took a deep breath and said.
“I’m, I’m dying from the heat too. Hurry up and do it for me too.”
He looked okay… But since she couldn’t refuse, Roina nodded awkwardly and tried to move towards him. At that moment, she felt a hand grabbing her sleeve.
“I need it too.”
It was Ethan, with a stoic face. Roina stared blankly at him.
‘I can somewhat understand Jason, but you, who were born and raised here, shouldn’t be like this…’
“It’s hot.”
Ethan said that with a truly nonchalant face and blinked. Roina let out a deep sigh at the anticipated hardships ahead.
