Chapter 263
At some point, Roina opened her eyes. She saw a man with purple eyes, looking at her sadly and shedding tears.
‘Why are you crying?’
She reflexively wanted to ask that, but no sound came from her mouth. The man was kneeling on one knee and said, with his forehead on the back of Roina’s hand. His voice was full of moisture.
-“Please… don’t go…”
Then, ‘Roina,’ who was looking at him, coldly shook off his hand.
-“Think about what you’ve done.”
Her consciousness returned to reality at the same time as she thought, ‘It’s a dream,’ to her body that was moving regardless of her will.
“Ah.”
The tears that had welled up in Roina’s eyes trickled down. She was lying on the bed, and Ryuhyeon, in the guise of the Crown Prince with those purple eyes, was frowning and looking at her with a painful expression.
It was his true face, devoid of all the composure he had shown when talking to her until now.
Her whole body ached as if she had been beaten. She didn’t know for sure, but if she put her feet on the floor and stood up, her waist would creak and her pelvis would hurt. Nevertheless, Roina blankly stared ahead. Having absorbed his energy to the fullest, her mana was overflowing.
“…Are you satisfied?”
At those words, Ryuhyeon lowered his head. He had a tormented and painful expression.
“Are you happy just having my body, without my heart?”
Those words came out on their own. Roina felt a slightly floating sensation. It was as if she was in sync with the ‘Roina’ in the dream, just for this moment. Ryuhyeon looked at her, startled at Roina’s change in tone. It was an expression of disbelief, yet also overwhelming joy.
Roina raised her hand and stroked Ryuhyeon’s cheek. The Crown Prince’s smooth skin touched her fingertips. What would happen to the real Crown Prince if he occupied the body like this? Such idle thoughts flooded in.
“Poor thing.”
Golden light was already lingering in Roina’s eyes. Roina naturally got up and pushed his shoulder. Ryuhyeon was pushed away without resistance.
“You are clinging to falsehood once again.”
Roina placed her hands on his neck and looked at him. Ryuhyeon’s purple eyes, his soul, wavered and trembled.
“It’s not the time for a contract now, so you can’t die. Neither that body nor your soul.”
Roina leaned forward and gently bit Ryuhyeon’s lips. Then, he, who had been looking at her with trembling eyes, grabbed the back of her neck and buried his face in her. As if wanting to reach her inside somehow, like a thirsty person desperately seeking water.
Roina allowed him for a while, then pushed him away again. He was pushed away obediently. His gaze lingered on Roina’s lips, on her golden shining eyes, with rapture.
“And now, you’re the one who will be in trouble if I die.”
Ryuhyeon’s lips twisted upward. Roina stared at that appearance calmly. She felt genuinely sorry for him, who, even after countless unions, was still filled with greed and desired her.
“Since it’s not the time, go back.”
Roina just whispered that, and Ryuhyeon, as if bewitched, looked at her and nodded. And soon.
“I will come again.”
As if covered in black mist, he disappeared.
Roina stared at that appearance indifferently and turned her head.
Since he had already taken a hit from the incident at the last New Year’s party, this was probably his limit. He couldn’t hold back and made a move when she appeared before his eyes. Just like always.
He was someone who would try to swallow everything out of greed and eventually fall. She couldn’t understand why he still couldn’t come to his senses. Such thoughts arose on their own.
She suddenly felt that a small piece that had been broken was somewhat returning. It was because the golden energy swirling within her, throbbing, had finally become a complete part of her.
‘It was certain. That the me of a thousand years ago and the me of now are the same…’
She had naturally reincarnated into another world according to the flow of things and was just living, but she fell here in response to Ryuhyeon’s forced call. To protect such her, the archmage had repeatedly reincarnated and found her and responded to him. That was intermittently repeated over a thousand years.
‘Not everything has come back to me yet, though.’
She now had a general idea. Roina, using magic as naturally as breathing, tidied up her clothes and thought.
