Roina felt the mana in the air surrounding her. Mana, which had been dormant everywhere, began to hum and vibrate, resonating with her.
“No….”
Upon hearing her murmured words, a sudden light flickered in the Imperial Crown Prince’s eyes. He mischievously raised the corner of his mouth and made another move to swing his sword. Without hesitation, he swung it.
“No!!!”
It was the moment.
A strong light filled the room. The dark magical tool that had been surrounding her seemed to shrink as if burned by the light, releasing her and fleeing toward the darkness. The imperial sword, which had been aimed at Ethan, broke in the light, and the broken blade flew toward the Crown Prince. He barely dodged the blade but could not hide his astonishment.
“What, what is this? How did this happen? The magic suppression device…! Damn it!”
In response to Roina’s powerful force, a black magical tool, like a choker, appeared around her neck. However, it couldn’t withstand the intense light flowing from her and quickly crumbled to pieces.
A strong golden light sparkled in her eyes, and golden mana swirled violently around her pale skin, creating a strong vortex. With every step she took, a great force rippled like a wave. It felt as though a true deity had descended upon this place.
The Crown Prince clicked his tongue, turned around, and tried to escape. Although this was the first time Roina had unleashed such a strong power, the Imperial Palace, especially this secret room deep within its core, was surrounded by powerful ancient wards. If she were confined here and waited for a few days, her strength would surely dissipate.
Without hesitation, Roberto opened the door, intending to seal it. But he was not alone in front of the door.
“Your Highness, where are you in such a hurry to go?”
A sharp sword gleamed as it pierced the Crown Prince’s abdomen. The woman, clad in a black mask and dark attire of a secret agent, was the only figure visible. She closed her eyes with a gentle smile, and Roberto collapsed with a look of shock.
Phew, you’re weak, aren’t you?”
“…Maili?!”
Roina, still enveloped in light, blinked in astonishment, staring at the woman before her.
“…How? Surely the Crown Prince’s palace…?”
“There’s always a way.”
Maili shrugged her shoulders confidently, just like when she had spoken to Roina in her room before. In her hand was a lockpick, a tool for unlocking locks. Roina stared at her in disbelief, and as the golden light faded, she collapsed. No strength remained in her body. This was the price she paid for recklessly drawing on her mana without truly understanding how to control it.
“Anyway, you can’t do anything without me, can you? Hmph.”
Maili glanced at her and then brought over the Crown Prince’s robe, putting it on Roina.
“Ugh… It must feel uncomfortable, but bear with it a little. I’ll buy you new clothes later.”
“No… That’s not the problem… Thank you.”
Roina gratefully accepted her kindness. She was confused by Maili’s appearance, someone who had raised a rebellion so nonchalantly, but now was not the time to worry about such things.
“Let’s go.”
Maili said this and reached out her hand to Roina as if to indicate she should hold it. Seeing the hand, Roina hesitated for a moment, as if contemplating.
“Just a moment. I have something to do.”
