Chapter 94
It turns out that before even approaching her, he had already set up a sound barrier. Feeling betrayed, Roina shot him a reproachful look, but Lutan shamelessly said,
“You were beautiful and adorable.”
Roina was at a loss for words and shook her head. He hadn’t been this brazen before. He simply stroked her, as if finding even her exasperation endearing. Having been swept away by the overwhelming pleasure he had driven her into, she was mentally drained. Physically, too, she had lost all strength, leaving her to rely entirely on him as he carried her back inside and even attended to her bath. However, after a little while, her body felt invigorated again, having absorbed his energy. In fact, she felt even more energized than before.
Aside from that, he also guided her magic use in preparation for the dangerous events that might unfold tonight. Though she had surpassed Lutan in instinctively commanding mana—the fundamental substance composing the world—and in dismantling pre-existing spells, she was still at a beginner level when it came to handling complex formulas beyond simply manipulating the elements of water, fire, wind, and earth.
He provided her with an intensive lesson so she could at least master controlling snow and ice crystals, as well as maintaining warmth. Instead of distinguishing different types of mana, she had to regulate temperature by utilizing their vibrations. Fortunately, as someone who quickly grasped scientific concepts, Roina picked up the technique with ease.
And once again, night arrived without fail.

“Have all the young women living in the outer castle been evacuated without exception?”
“Yes, that is correct.”
For a time, the lord’s castle had sheltered the territory’s residents for their protection. However, Sophia had remained behind out of concern for her ailing grandmother. It was understandable that her grandmother had been heartbroken. No matter how much Sophia pretended otherwise, there was no way someone who had lived that long wouldn’t have noticed the truth in her heart.
Maili ruffled her hair in frustration. Since this was her first time dealing with such an incident, she had reassured the people to keep them from panicking, but in reality, she herself felt utterly lost.
Still, she couldn’t afford to show it. Perhaps the Great Archmage and Roina would be able to resolve this matter, and besides, she had the elite members of the knight order by her side.
“Let’s go!”
“Uh, Captain, there’s just one problem.”
Just as they were about to set off, a hesitant voice interrupted them. It was Jack, the hunter, his gaze filled with unease.
“With so many people here, not a single prey is showing itself.”
“What?”
“That yeti bastard… I don’t think it’s going to show up.”
The burly, bearded hunter scratched his head, glancing toward the knights. Even though only the best had been selected, there were still dozens of them—each clad in shining armor that would no doubt clash noisily against itself.
“If it won’t show itself, then we’ll search the crevices in the cliff that we suspect to be its lair!”
Maili refused to compromise on safety and ordered them to proceed. Left with no choice, the hunter reluctantly followed, though he advised them to cover their armor with something or at least scatter some ash over it to reduce visibility.
Soon, the elite knights arrived at the foot of the Goddess’s Cliff and stood there, dumbfounded.
“Wait a second… there should be a crevice here. Where did it go?”
Jack stared at the cliff in bewilderment. It stood before them, solid and unbroken—without so much as a crack in sight.
