“And one more thing…”

There’s more?

“Just in case, I should prepare a few magic tools for that day. We can’t afford any aftermath. I’ll consult the unaffiliated artificers.”

Does he already suspect the Association and the temple might be connected?

They had only just met the unaffiliated artificers. The Magic Tools Association, on the other hand, had been inseparable from House Felton since its founding.

And yet Benjamin chose the unaffiliated side.

That meant he was already considering the possibility that information might leak from within the Union.

…Or maybe he’s simply avoiding attention. The Magic Tools Association is an official institution, after all.

“I believe there are still things you haven’t told me. Just as there are things I haven’t told the Wife.”

Grace’s eyes widened. He rarely spoke so directly.

But he smiled, his eyes still faintly red from holding back tears.

“Still, I hope you understand that I have no one but you.”

“……”

“From now on, I will ask whether something is truly necessary for you before I act. And when the time comes, when you feel you can trust me completely, tell me everything.”

Until then, he would grant every request without asking why. Benjamin took her hand, brushing a kiss across the back of it before stepping away.

Usually, he watched her until she disappeared inside.

Today, it was the opposite. Grace stood still, watching him enter the main residence.

Nine times…

That was how many times he turned to look back at her before fully stepping inside. The last time, he saw she was still standing there and gave her a small, worried smile. His lips formed the words, “Please go inside.”

Then he was gone.

I don’t know what the right answer is anymore…

Should she have told him sooner?

Grace shook her head. Everything that had led to this moment had meaning. There was no use spiraling into regret now.

She lifted her gaze toward the annex. The unpleasant mist still lingered faintly in certain corners.

Before I leave, I’ll clear as much of it as I can.

It was now certain that when her memories returned, her power grew stronger. It wouldn’t hurt to strengthen herself before entering the temple.

But with my current strength…

The problem was that there was no mist she could currently dispel. And aside from clearing the mist, she had no idea how to grow her divine power.

“…Ah!”

Suddenly, she remembered.

The medicine!

That medicine had contained something that enhanced divine power. Even if it wouldn’t cause dramatic growth, it would still help. She hurried into her room.

It was fortunate she had realized before throwing them away. Since she had avoided taking them, quite a few had accumulated.

I’m sure this was the shape of the pill.

If even the priests consumed it, the ingredients couldn’t be overtly harmful.

Grace poured several into her mouth. The effects would take time, so she opened the copy of the ledger she had placed on her bedside table.

Next… perhaps I’ll inspect the annex tea room.

As she considered her next step, her gaze fell on something inside the drawer—

The pendulum.

After her visit to the Magic Tools Association building, it had lost its light and never regained it. Without its glow, it could no longer dispel the mist.

She placed the ledger back and picked up the pendulum.

“I wish I could use you again.”

It had been incredibly convenient. As she turned it over in her hand, a stray thought occurred to her.

What if I try infusing it with my power?

It was an impulsive idea.

If it doesn’t work, then so be it.

With casual resolve, she channeled her divine power into the pendulum.

For a moment, nothing happened.

Then—

“…Huh?”

A teal light slowly bloomed within it—brighter than any version she had seen before.

“I’ve never seen it look like this…”

The first one had glowed gold. The second, sky blue. And now—teal.

It resembled the color of Grace’s eyes. It truly did seem to reflect the wielder’s gaze.

But then why had the one Aria given her glowed gold? That would imply it carried Aria’s power—yet she didn’t recall ever being told such a thing.

Did Aria forget to mention it?

Grace remembered the light Boris’s pendulum had emitted.

Blue.

Boris’s eyes were blue as well.

And yet, for some reason, she felt it wasn’t the same shade.
