“My Lady, is there something bothering you?”

“Ah, no. I just want to catch the train quickly.”

Right, Grace admitted. This was a bit embarrassing.

In truth, she almost felt a sense of self-loathing, wondering if she was somewhat inadequate for the stature of the Felton family. But with everyone treating her as if she was some priceless treasure, attempting to protect and surround her, she felt like she could die of embarrassment.

To the extent that, no matter where Grace looked – front, side, back – she couldn’t get a clear view of the train station’s interior.

‘Why are they making such a fuss?’

“…Sally, listen I have a favor to ask.”

“What can I help you with?”

“Just let me know, Madam!”

“If it’s urgent, you can leave it to me.”

“Madam, in case of emergencies, wouldn’t it be better to keep your only maid by your side and send one of the other knights instead?”

“…”

She had only called for Sally, but the surrounding knights were in an uproar.

Grace felt like crying. She didn’t understand why they were suddenly acting this way.

The knights of the Felton order had always been kind to Grace.

But they had kept their distance, not wanting to hurt her. That changed when, during the recent expedition, a priest from the temple tried to frame Grace, crossing a line.

‘Why is Benjamin acting like this too?’

Actually, Benjamin had reacted even faster than the knights. His response was so swift, that he even answered before Sally could.

Grace mumbled, her face turning redder than her hair.

“It’s nothing big, just… can you get me a newspaper, Sally?”

She desperately needed something to distract herself right now.

⋆★⋆

The Linden Viscounty.

To describe it, it’s a small territory with a beautiful lake.

To put it another way, apart from the lake, there’s nothing remarkable about it. The lake itself didn’t hold any significant meaning. It was just accompanied by a pretty legend, which was more or less a silly story.

‘What was it again… Ah, a legend about it curing any illness, was it?’

That seemed to be the gist of what Grace could recall from her memories.

There were exactly two reasons she was lost in such pointless reminiscing. She had long finished reading the newspaper, and she had just arrived at the Linden territory.

‘…I feel nauseous.’

Grace was apprehensive about how she would feel upon arriving in Linden territory. The thought of arriving in an unknown land was daunting, and the anticipation of reaching their destination was equally intimidating.

However, her current emotions differed greatly from those apprehensions. It felt like seeing a familiar scenery. A land filled with nostalgia and warmth, but at the same time, tinged with melancholy.

‘Is it because of my memories?’

Was she feeling nostalgic and sentimental because of her memories? Grace questioned herself, but there was no answer.

Instead, all she could do was gaze upon the Linden territory.

A small, slowly developing territory.

Yet, it was the land that the Duchess of Felton, the original Grace, had loved since her days as the daughter to Viscount Linden. Although it was a small place, it was fertile with sunlight pouring down, making it a vibrant and beautiful land teeming with life.

‘I feel like I’m going to cry.’

Until now, she had never yearned to return to the Linden Viscounty, but now that she was back in her ‘hometown’, waves of nostalgia flooded her heart.

“Although I couldn’t visit often, I always find this place beautiful every time I come.”

Benjamin remarked, gently addressing Grace, who was lost in gazing at the Linden territory.

Grace replied softly.

“…Yes, it really is.”

The residents of the Linden Viscounty had already been notified about the visit from the Felton Duke’s residence and were already prepared. Standing at the gates of the Viscount’s estate, Viscount Linden approached them with a broad smile.

“Your Excellency, you must be weary from your journey. And Grace, you too must be tired.”

“Oh, think nothing of it. Please, Viscount, speak freely. Aren’t you my father-in-law?”

Benjamin said with a light chuckle, giving a respectful nod to the Viscount Linden. Viscount Linden led them to a carriage heading to his mansion while continuing their conversation.

“Wasn’t the journey dull with nothing much to do?”

“It was fine. My lady was comfortable too, right?”

“Ah, yes. I had the newspaper to read, after all.”

For some reason, there had been a slight delay in Grace getting the newspaper, but she did receive it before the train departed.
