Chapter 105
Rezus only stared at her eyes in silence.
“You were also the one who washed me when I fainted and said those… things. But now again…”
Psyche made a hurt expression while avoiding his gaze, then laughed as if in defeat.
“I was so naive to let my guard down, even if just for an instant.”
“…”
Then silence fell. As everywhere grew quiet, his steady breathing, his gaze fixed solely on her, and his scent began to grate on her nerves with how conscious she became of them. Even the sound of her own breathing.
Strangely, her throat felt parched and she wanted to swallow, but she couldn’t for fear the sound would be too loud. Just when she thought it fortunate that her eyes were cast down, a large hand gently gripped her chin and lifted her face.
“Now that I look, you’re far too careless.”
Was it the dim lighting? His eyes, so dark red they appeared black, caught her gaze. Under his gradually tightening gaze, she couldn’t even think to avoid it.
“If you’re going to play tricks, do it properly, Psyche.”
For an instant, ripples spread through purple eyes. He twisted his lips in a low laugh.
“Ah- Looking back.”
“…”
“You were always careless. And I was the fool who fell for such obvious ploys.”
…Fell for? The admission startled her, even though she’d sensed it deep down…
“But Psyche, you must have been quite curious about what I said.”
His following words instantly evaporated her wandering thoughts.
“Even trying to probe, unlike you.”
She stiffened abruptly.
“How did I know? You might think you manage your expressions well, but that’s your delusion.”
His calloused thumb slowly caressed the corner of her eye.
“See, even now.”
Her delicate eye area trembled slightly.
“Don’t touch…”
Just as Psyche tried to swat his hand away, Rezus lowered his head and whispered in her ear as if telling a secret.
“This makes my heart grow weak, you know.”
She remained silent, not understanding immediately, then blankly parted her lips as a voice flashed through her mind belatedly.
‘Seeing how you can’t get your bearings from something like this, I suppose you really are weak.’
‘Psyche.’
‘This makes my heart grow weak, you know.’
“…That’s a lie. Someone like you couldn’t possibly grow weak from something like that…”
“Why do you think so?”
He slowly traced her defensively parted lips, as if in disbelief.
“You should know from Helios. That you’re my first love.”
His touch grew more intimate as the distance closed even further. Until their noses brushed and their breaths mingled.
“Who you are.”
By the time she realized they were too close, her lips had already been captured.
“Mmph…!”
The sharp taste of alcohol and the man’s heavy yet soft scent overwhelmed her. Her eyes closed instinctively at the dizzying sensation as his lips gently pressed against hers, then his warm tongue smoothly delved inside. As their tongues met, they entangled wetly. When she tried to push him away after belatedly coming to her senses, he tilted her chin and invaded deeper. His large, firm hand encompassed her cheek with room to spare.
Psyche gripped his shoulders with trembling hands, trying not to let out a moan. As their tongues intertwined more deeply, wet sounds echoed explicitly. Her face burned hot and her toes curled. Then the bed sank deeper as the man’s hot body covered hers. Rezus had mounted above her. This can’t go further. A bright red warning flashed in her mind. She pushed him away with all her might.
“Haa, haa…”
Fortunately, Rezus yielded this time. However, with rough breathing and heightened excitement still filling the bedroom, it wouldn’t be strange if he pounced again at any moment.
“Mmm… Want more? I’ve got plenty more.”
“…Leave, now.”
Her heart was going crazy. No matter how hard she tried to get her rapid breathing under control, it just wasn’t happening. Her soft chest, glowing like moonlight in the dim room, kept rising and falling like waves. Her eyes stayed bright and misty, like morning dew on rose petals.
“Heh.”
Rezus couldn’t pull his eyes away from her, his brow scrunching up as he let out what sounded like a groan.
“…Oh, that’s not fair.”
Then he gently embraced her and nuzzled her neck. Psyche froze like ice. This, this was truly… the kind of skinship only lovers would do. Even if he was drunk, this seemed wrong. She hurriedly pushed him away.
“I said get out, now!”
Then he slowly raised his head. As they stared at each other wordlessly, her heart pounded heavily. Psyche squeezed her eyes shut. This was strange somehow. Her breathing was too rapid. While Rezus might act this way from being drunk, she was perfectly sober. Had his intoxication somehow transferred to her? In the moment she buried her face in her hands, unable to bear the tumultuous silence, having closed her eyes wasn’t enough.
“…Looks like we’re both too stubborn to give in to each other.”
His voice, deep and rough like gravel, filled the quiet room.
“Don’t worry. There won’t be anything like this anymore.”
…As she heard him leave, Psyche felt deep relief.
