However, the Emperor only opened his eyes, as if blocked by something, unable to speak or move. He seemed capable of nothing but glaring at the black silhouette with wide eyes. Crack-! Once again, the vials crumbled into small pieces in the silhouette’s hands, and dirty debris fell onto the bed and carpet. Now only one vial remained.

The black silhouette uncorked the last vial with their blood-dripping hand and poured the potion over the Emperor’s bloodshot eyes. The purple liquid flowed down over the white face. The last remaining potion disappeared so futilely.

Then, a thunderous roar burst from the Emperor’s mouth.

‘How dare you, how could you, to me…!’

At the moment the Emperor’s eyes bulged – his neck was severed. Bright red blood spurted like a fountain from the cleanly cut surface.

“Haa…!”

Like a compressed spring suddenly releasing, she jerked upright. Her whole body was drenched in cold sweat. Her heart was pounding so hard her ears were ringing. Psyche closed her eyes and wiped the sweat flowing down her forehead.

What kind of dream was this? It was too vivid to dismiss as a mere nightmare. A prophetic dream? As she blankly stared at her trembling fingertips, something flashed in her mind.

Wait. Come to think of it, the dream content… it’s exactly the same as what was described in the original work?

[Shattered vials, a bedroom stained with red blood and purple liquid. What was found there was the Emperor’s corpse with its neck severed.]

She swallowed and buried her face in her hands.

‘…Is this really a prophetic dream?’

The Emperor’s death that was described in just two lines in the original work. The dream that was disturbingly vivid. The dream content that matched exactly with the original work’s description.

At this point, it would be hard to say it’s not a prophetic dream.

Psyche gritted her teeth. If this truly was a prophetic dream, it meant that regardless of what she did, the Emperor would be assassinated as in the original work. The Emperor’s death meant the disappearance of hope, making it highly likely that Sicardo would walk the path to destruction.

‘Why such a dream… Is it telling me not to struggle since the future will flow as written?’

Her head drooped. As she shook her head trying to shake off the creeping sense of helplessness, Psyche suddenly realized she was missing something and jerked her head up.

‘Wait, the Emperor’s killer. Who exactly was that person?’

Just two lines. Only two lines in the novel described the Emperor’s death. Since there was no mention of the culprit’s identity, readers merely vaguely assumed the Emperor fell to an enemy nation’s assassin.

But if the dream was accurate, the killer wasn’t an enemy assassin…

‘How dare you, how could you, to me…!’

That voice full of rage, the Emperor’s eyes filled with shock and anger upon seeing the black silhouette.

That was the kind of reaction one would show when betrayed by someone trusted.

‘Was the Emperor’s assassin not from an enemy nation but someone on the same side?’

She lowered her gaze while touching her lower lip. No matter how she thought about it, that wasn’t the kind of reaction one would show to some enemy assassin. It was highly likely to be someone familiar at minimum. But if it were just an acquaintance, such an intense reaction wouldn’t have occurred.

…Perhaps it was someone close.

She anxiously clenched her fists, then closed her eyes.

‘Maybe this… isn’t just a prophetic dream, but a warning to find the culprit and prevent the Emperor’s death.’

She clutched her head with both hands. The current situation was already overwhelming, and now she had to find the future Emperor’s killer too.

Hoo. Psyche took a deep breath in and out, pushing away negative emotions. Don’t overthink it. While other things might be difficult, finding the culprit could be easier than expected.

She carefully traced back the dream’s contents and considered the culprit’s conditions.

First, the culprit is likely someone who has earned the Emperor’s trust.

Second, the culprit is strong enough to slip past tight security into the Emperor’s bedroom.

Most importantly, third. The culprit drank ten vials of the potion and would be unimaginably powerful after the Emperor’s assassination.

The person who meets all three conditions is…

“…”

None. While there were those who met the first two conditions, not a single person fulfilled the third condition.

Only the Emperor’s direct family and First Rank met the first two conditions.

But since all of the Emperor’s direct family and First Rank died in the novel’s final arc, logically no one could fulfill all three conditions.

Anyone who met the third condition couldn’t possibly have died.

Why then, did that scene from the novel flash before her eyes at this moment?

‘Phrena, I would gladly die by your hands.’

At the brink of death, Helios coughed blood while grinning as if nothing could make him happier.

Was it just Helios? No.

The other male leads were similar.

In his final moment, Rezus burst into laughter, relieved.

Serdin didn’t even properly defend himself when Psyche attacked.

Terche too fell to Psyche’s hands with unsettling ease.

“…”

What’s this? At this point, it wouldn’t be wrong to say they just let themselves die.
