Chapter 114
“…”
She let out a disbelieving laugh. About to say something, she decided it wasn’t worth it and headed straight for the door, while Helios’s unpleasant laughter grated her ears. Psyche took a deep breath and moved her legs.
Only Rezus was in the reception room. Psyche hesitated upon seeing him seated in the middle of the sofa. A gloomy atmosphere surrounded him, making her reluctant to approach. As she stood frozen, unable to move further, Rezus slowly raised his head.
After an uncomfortable silence, he tilted his head, gesturing for her to sit beside him. Pressed by the oppressive atmosphere, Psyche quietly sat beside him. He stared at her intently. His gaze was impossible to read.
“…”
A heavy silence enveloped them.
Could this be what torture by silence feels like? Just as she swallowed dryly, feeling her breath gradually constricting, a large screen appeared in midair.
In an ornate, luxurious room, in the corner was Ruon, unrecognizably gaunt. He was trembling, his body tightly curled. The one comfort was that even then, his eyes still burned bright. As she clenched her fist, disgusted with herself for feeling even that small relief, the most unwelcome person appeared on screen.
「Hello, Ruon.」
It was Zephyros.
* * *
“How was your meal…, hm?”
Ptuh, spit flew onto Zephyros’s cheek.
“Instead of wasting time with greetings, why don’t you torture me like usual?”
Ruon glared at Zephyros with murderous intent, grinding his teeth. Zephyros wiped the spit off his cheek with his thumb, smiling gently.
“Still sharp-tongued as ever, our Ruon.”
Then he reached out, gripped Ruon’s jaw forcefully to open his mouth, and turned his face side to side. His gaze at the small tongue visible between parted lips was sharp as a snake’s fang. As if measuring whether to cut it out. Sensing this, Ruon’s shoulders trembled.
“Why so scared?”
Zephyros removed his hand and casually rotated his wrist as if stretching.
“I won’t do much to you today. I thought we might try some persuasion.”
“Ha…”
“What’s your brother’s main ability? Tell me and I won’t hurt you today.”
“F**k off.”
Zephyros quietly smiled at the hate-filled face.
“Ruon, you still don’t understand?”
“…”
“You’ve been abandoned.”
“…”
“Rezus Anocton abandoned you, his only remaining family.”
Ruon’s face twisted strangely before breaking into a bitter laugh.
“You see what you want to see. Just because you abandoned your sister doesn’t mean my brother abandoned me.”
But unlike his bold words, Ruon’s body was trembling like an aspen tree.
“I understand you, Ruon. Of course you can’t accept it. How could you believe that the brother you so admired has abandoned you?”
Zephyros reached toward Ruon’s hair with a gentle tone. Smack! Ruon fiercely struck away that hand and shouted.
“Don’t touch me!”
“……”
Staring silently at his rejected hand, Zephyros muttered as if talking to himself.
“Well… no matter how much I tell you to face the fact that you’ve been abandoned, you won’t believe it now… Or more precisely, you’re struggling because you don’t want to believe it.”
He laughed, “Heh.”
“Ruon, do you know how your brother is torturing my little sister?”
“Shut up.”
“I was going to keep it hidden until the end for your mental health… But I think it’s time to reveal it.”
“I said shut up! Just shut up and torture me like usual!”
Ruon screamed and lunged at Zephyros. Easily blocking it, Zephyros clicked his tongue, “Tsk.”
“I understand you don’t want to see your brother’s shame… but you should know what needs to be known. What your brother is doing right now.”
“I don’t want to know such- ugh!”
Looking down at the struggling Ruon with annoyance, Zephyros kicked him in the stomach. His body flew far and crashed against the opposite wall with a thud, then fell limply to the floor. Cough, cough! A dark shadow loomed over the body wracked with violent coughs.
“Who said I was curious about your opinion? Just listen quietly.”
Seemingly unmoved by the sight of him writhing in pain, Zephyros kicked Ruon’s stomach several more times. Ruon couldn’t move at all, as if he didn’t have the strength to lift even a finger. Red blood trickled between Ruon’s teeth. His internal organs seemed ruptured from the concentrated kicks to his stomach.
Watching Ruon convulse with an emotionless gaze, Zephyros crouched in front of him. He held a small crystal orb to Ruon’s ear and tightly clenched his fist. Then from the crystal orb flowed a woman’s moans, a man’s rough breathing, and the sound of flesh striking flesh.
“……”
That terrible sound continued until the end without Ruon moving a muscle. But his expression revealed how deeply shocked he was.
“Hard to believe? Your only brother gets kidnapped, yet instead of trying to save him, he’s busy violating a helpless woman.”
