Helios didn’t spare Serdin even a glance. Serdin let out a dry laugh, clearly assuming Psyche would naturally ask Helios to leave. After seating her in a chair, he casually pulled out a seat across from her and sat down himself.

Psyche looked at Serdin sitting across from her, then shifted her gaze.

The easiest man to deal with and the hardest man to deal with. Which one should she choose?

The deliberation didn’t last long. Her lips slowly parted.

“Serdin… could you leave?”

A crack formed in Serdin’s expression. He looked both stunned and incredulous. Meanwhile, a relaxed smile graced Helios’s lips.

“She’s asking you to leave, Serdin.”

Serdin scowled, glaring at Helios before snapping his head back toward Psyche.

“Are you playing with me?”

“W-What…?”

“Just a moment ago, you were wide-eyed and asking if I was okay. And now you’re asking me to leave… Ha, forget it. What am I even doing here?”

Feeling that denying any intention of playing with him would only make things more awkward, Psyche could only manage a flustered expression.

With a sigh, Serdin’s chair scraped harshly against the floor as he stood. He looked down at Psyche with a complicated expression, then roughly ruffled his hair in irritation. Striding over to Helios, he muttered a low warning.

“Don’t do anything weird.”

“What do you mean by ‘weird’? If Phrena hears that, she might misunderstand.”

Serdin frowned, glancing back and forth between Helios and Psyche. He didn’t like the idea of leaving Psyche alone with this sly man, but what could he do? She had asked him to leave, so he had to.

Yet, his feet wouldn’t move easily. He glanced around aimlessly and spotted his robe draped over the side table by the bed. The urge to drape it over Psyche before leaving struck him. Then, recalling that the negligee she wore today covered her from neck to ankle, he let out a self-deprecating laugh. What was he even doing? The kiss marks weren’t even visible under her clothes and hair—what was the point of giving her the robe?

Running a hand through his hair, he scoffed at himself, muttered a curse, and left the room.

As soon as the door closed, Helios silently approached Psyche, taking the seat Serdin had just vacated. With his eyes curving into crescent moons, he greeted her.

“Hello, Phrena.”

His smile was charming enough to make anyone’s heart flutter, but Psyche’s expression remained stoic.

“Do you really have to be the ones keeping an eye on me? Wouldn’t it be easier to assign a maid or servant to the task?”

“Hmm? No. It’s more convenient for us to do it ourselves.”

“…You all must have a lot of free time on your hands.”

Helios answered with a smile instead of words, his crimson lips curling beautifully upward. He extended his hand toward her, his slender fingers lightly brushing her forehead.

“You seem unwell.”

The sudden touch made Psyche’s displeasure clear, and Helios withdrew his hand as if nothing had happened, his graceful movement reminiscent of a butterfly fluttering in the air.

“Can you manage to eat?”

“…”

Psyche slowly nodded her head.

“That’s good. You’ve made the right decision. Eat and regain your strength.”

Helios smiled gently and personally placed the utensils into her hands. Psyche glanced at the spot his hand had brushed against, her mind already turning over her next steps.

Even in her weakened state, she had chosen to be alone with Helios instead of Serdin because she determined it was more important to increase Helios’s favorability toward her.

‘Or rather… obsession would be a more accurate term.’

In any case, to capture his heart, she first needed to strip away the mask he wore. Recalling how that mask had cracked when the heroine in the original story behaved like an arrogant princess, Psyche subtly lifted her chin and cast a disdainful gaze over the food before her.

“…Phrena, if you truly can’t eat, you can have it later.”

His voice, slightly lower than before, resonated quietly. When their eyes met, Psyche momentarily held her breath.

Helios still wore his usual mask of kindness, but the cold, subdued gleam in his eyes betrayed him. However, in the next moment, he seamlessly returned to his usual gentle expression, exuding a warm and serene demeanor as if nothing had happened.

Letting out the breath she had been holding, Psyche straightened her back.

“…No, it’s fine. I can eat.”

Without hesitation, as if she hadn’t faltered a moment ago, she elegantly scooped up a spoonful of cream soup and brought it to her lips. For an instant, a sparkle of vitality returned to her eyes.
