“Escape? Why? Oh, you mean like ‘catch me if you can’?”

Porcelony, grinning lewdly, still didn’t grasp the situation.

I gave him a serious warning.

“If you come any closer, you’ll regret it.”

Then I started counting down, folding my fingers one by one.

Five.

Four.

Three.

Two.

One.

As soon as the countdown ended,

Wham!

A loud, clear sound that seemed to crack the skull echoed around us.

It was the sound of Balzac delivering a flying kick to Porcelony’s head.

“Argh, ugh!”

Porcelony crumpled to the ground, clutching his head.

“Get up. It’s not over yet.”

Thud!

Balzac’s eyes were deadly as he kicked Porcelony in the abdomen.

“Hiek, hiiiek…!”

Porcelony staggered to his feet, retreating.

But he didn’t get far.

He was blocked by Joshua, who appeared behind him.

Joshua smiled coldly yet beautifully.

“If you’re going to escape, you’d be better off jumping into the lake.”

We won’t let you go, you know?

It was as if I could hear the words he didn’t say.

The twins, so different from each other, turned to me with incredibly kind expressions.

Their gazes were as sweet as honey dripping.

Balzac swung his arms and said to me,

“Ery, count to ten for a moment.”

What should I do? Should I let him live?

Hmm, I thought for a moment and then made a decision.

‘I gave him a chance to escape, didn’t I?’

So, I did everything I could to help.

I slowly covered my eyes with my hand.

“One… two… three…”

“Ack! Aaaah!”

Thud! Whack─!

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry!”

Screams that sounded like a pig being slaughtered echoed beautifully around the lakeside.

Even after beating Porcelony to a pulp, Balzac was still raging.

“The mere son of Caldere dares to speak like that to a direct descendant of Astra? Pull such a stunt? Is he out of his mind?”

Joshua calmly refuted Balzac’s words.

“It’s more like his fear couldn’t overcome his desire.”

“Huh? What do you mean?”

Joshua, looking at his dim-witted brother with pity, explained.

“Monsters are no match for people if used well. In fact, Erylotte practically has the strongest offensive blessing now. So he approached her without understanding his place.”

Joshua’s eyes glinted chillingly.

“And he did it while trying to belittle Erylotte.”

“Damn him…”

While the twins were planning to brutally punish Porcelony, I was getting drowsy and blinked sleepily.

Balzac, his previous fierce attitude gone, asked gently.

“Ery, are you sleepy?”

“Yeah. There was so much happening today.”

“You’ll get cold if you sleep like this. Use my coat.”

“No, Ery will use my coat to sleep.”

Watching Balzac and Joshua bicker made me feel even more tired.

As I was nodding off in Betty’s arms, the communication stone glowed.

I checked who it was.

‘Oh no.’

It was a call from Alexis.

At that moment, I felt piercing gazes. When I looked back with the communication stone in hand, Balzac was staring at me with hawk eyes.

Joshua’s eyes were just as sharp.

“Who is it?”

“…Conrad.”

Balzac, with his keen intuition, looked sharply at me.

“Why is he contacting you at this hour?”

“He must have something to discuss…”

My heart pounded, but I tried to act nonchalant and stuffed the communication stone deep into my pocket.

The two knew that Conrad was very fond of me.

I had once mentioned that I saved Conrad from being framed during Grandfather’s attack.

Over the past seven years, I had benefited greatly from Conrad’s help, so it wasn’t unusual for him to contact me.

Balzac still looked dissatisfied but couldn’t press further.

‘Ugh. That dang animal intuition…’

No, maybe it’s even sharper than a beast’s.

I clicked my tongue and tightly gripped the communication stone.

Using the excuse of being tired, I managed to shake off the twins, who were pestering me about eating green grapes or regular grapes, and entered my room.

When I connected the communication stone, Alexis’s voice came through.

[Erylotte.]

“Yes. How have you been?”

[Fine. And you?]

“Oh, you know…”

I had been living comfortably and safely within the protective barrier Dad had created, despite being busy.

Alexis was currently in a place that couldn’t even be compared to my situation.

Complaining about being tired because of a few things felt embarrassing, so I changed the subject.

“By the way, why did you call?”

[You said you needed a monster.]

“Yes.”

[I found a Giant Tarantula. I’ll send it to you.]

“Wow─!”

Monsters were always welcome!

But a Giant Tarantula?
