The scent of the forest, carried by the breeze, filled my lungs, refreshing me.

I couldn’t help but hum a cheerful tune.
As I continued to cross through the forest, I suddenly heard a rustling sound.
‘What’s that noise?’
I turned my head in the direction of the sound.
But there was nothing—just trees.
‘…Was it the wind?’
Just as I was about to continue walking, I heard it again.
This time, it was clearly a sigh.
A girl’s soft voice.
‘Who is that?’
I perked my ears toward the sound and cautiously walked closer.
When I reached the source, I carefully pushed aside the branches blocking my view—
‘Blitzen?’
I saw Blitzen sitting on the grass, leaning against a tree with his eyes closed, basking in the sunlight. He looked like a scene from a painting.
‘That’s strange? I definitely heard a girl’s voice.’
I scanned the surroundings and, sure enough, there was a maid dressed in a uniform.
It must have been her voice.
‘But something about it felt off…’
The maid, with her round, youthful face, still carried a bit of baby fat.
She wasn’t an adult, but rather looked about the same age as Blitzen.
‘Why is there a maid here? Blitzen doesn’t seem like the type to relax with someone else around.’
I didn’t know him well, but I was certain he wasn’t someone who let people get too close easily.

The maid clasped her hands in front of her chest, gazing at Blitzen with a look of utter adoration.
She swallowed nervously, then, as if making a decision, plopped down next to him.
She began inching closer on her knees.
“Blitzen…”
She whispered his name as she drew near, her eyes clouded with longing.

‘Huh?’
Her face moved even closer to his.
They were so close, their noses almost touched.
‘What the…’
The unexpected scene made me freeze for a moment, but I quickly grasped the situation and turned my head.
‘Are they… together?’
Now it made sense why the two of them were alone in the forest.
I was about to pretend I hadn’t seen anything and move on, but…
‘Wait a second.’
Something felt off, and I hesitated.
‘Blitzen… seemed like he was asleep.’
I glanced back, and sure enough, his eyes were still shut tightly.
‘So then, this maid is about to kiss a sleeping person—’
That’s when I spoke up, without thinking.
“Hey, you.”
Startled by the sudden voice, the maid practically jumped in place.
Without even checking who had spoken, she scrambled away from Blitzen.
Only then did she turn to me, her shoulders shrinking in fear.
“A-Ah, young lady.”
“What were you doing just now?”
I slowly approached them, my voice cold.
The maid glanced around nervously before stammering out a response.
“I, um… I-It’s just, there was some dust on Young Lord Blitzen…”
“Where exactly was this dust?”
“Well, I…”
Unable to answer, the maid’s head drooped, and she fidgeted awkwardly.
I furrowed my brows and stepped closer.
At that moment, Blitzen’s eyelashes fluttered.
Finally, his eyelids opened, revealing ruby-red eyes as clear as jewels.
He looked at us with a gaze as transparent as light filtering through the trees.
“What’s going on?”
His low voice resonated like a cave’s echo.
The maid flinched as if that voice had sliced through her.
Before she could offer an excuse, I spoke.
“She was trying to kiss you while you were asleep.”
“N-No! It wasn’t like that! I was just trying to clean off some dust…!”
“There’s no dust.”
At my words, the maid looked utterly at a loss.
Blitzen, who had been silently watching her, gave a slight nod.
“Alright. Thanks for removing it.”
“S-Sorry— Huh?”
The maid stared at Blitzen in disbelief.
He gestured casually, as if it was nothing.
“You can go.”
The maid’s expression brightened instantly.
“Th-Thank you! Thank you so much!”
She hurried away, as if afraid Blitzen might change his mind.
‘Was there no need to interfere after all?’
I watched her retreating figure for a moment before turning back to look at Blitzen.
It didn’t seem like the reaction of someone who had just woken up.
“You were awake, weren’t you?”
