By the time I arrived back at the estate, evening had already fallen.
I was so exhausted that I collapsed onto the bed without even changing my clothes.
I hadn’t eaten either, so Heidi and Betty gently coaxed me.
“If you soak in a warm bath with rose salt, it’ll be so fragrant and relaxing.”
“We’ll wash you with soft bubbles, and we’ll shampoo your hair, too.”
Heidi and Betty had their chins resting on my bed, speaking in unison.
“While you’re in the bath, we’ll bring you some sweet and tangy lemonade.”
“And when you’re all refreshed and step out, we’ll have some delicious toast ready for you.”
“Crispy bread, lightly toasted, topped with avocado, crunchy bacon, and a soft poached egg. It’ll be absolutely delicious, don’t you think?”
Betty whispered as she tucked my hair behind my ear, which was half-buried under the blanket.
“For dessert, we’ll have milk tea ice cream, freshly made…”
I lifted my head slightly from the pillow, still half-asleep.
‘Okay, okay.’
I responded, eyes half-closed.
“Fine…”
After seven years, they were absolute experts at convincing me.
‘That toast does sound good.’
Just thinking about it made my mouth water. I could already imagine the buttery scent of the toast.
A warm bath with rose salt was my absolute favorite.
The sweet fragrance of roses in the hot water would melt away all the exhaustion from the day.
The maids scrubbed my body with soft bubbles as I soaked in the tub.
After the bath, I sat in my robe while they dried my hair, each maid carefully holding a towel.
As I stretched out my hands, they gently clipped my overgrown nails.
‘Ah, I feel refreshed.’
Feeling light and airy, I sat with a blissful expression.
I took a bite of the toast, dipped perfectly into the yolk of the poached egg—pure heaven.
Once I finished eating, I patted my full stomach, and Betty brought out the milk tea ice cream with a satisfied smile.
It was my ideal combination—my favorite bath, a tasty meal, and a sweet dessert.
‘Ah, the true taste of wealth, power, and affection.’
I felt drunk with happiness, my eyes slightly glazed over.
Betty and Heidi saw my contented state and giggled.
“See? It was worth getting cleaned up and having a meal, wasn’t it?”
“Yeah…”
As I bit down on a dessert spoon, Han Ji-hyuk entered the room.
It seemed he had brought the transcribed documents from Conrad, who had promised them earlier.
“You looked like you were about to collapse earlier, but now you’re back to normal… aren’t you, Milady?”
Han Ji-hyuk, out of habit, started to speak informally but quickly corrected himself when he noticed Heidi’s sharp glance.
I smiled at him.
“I’m happy.”
Seeing me grinning contentedly, Han Ji-hyuk looked somewhat disgruntled.
‘He always seems annoyed when I’m enjoying myself.’
“I’ve been out in the scorching sun, pulling weeds, and you’ve been sipping lemonade in a cool room?”
“If you don’t like it, I’ll find a spot for you outside.”
“If I go out, I might run into the people I scammed! Can’t I do something like what Michelan does? Be the head butler or something?”
“The head butler of a noble house usually has an academy education. Do you want to enroll now?”
“This cursed society with its obsession over qualifications…!”
