Chapter 13
II.
Above Evina’s naked body, an old and ugly beast moved roughly.
“Ah… at least you’re nice and tight.”
She lay with her legs spread, staring blankly at the ceiling, lost in thought.
Thoughts like, for example, what kind of dress she should wear to the New Year’s gathering. The damned rules and social standing meant she couldn’t possibly wear a dress she had worn before, and she briefly wondered if she should simply not attend. But her husband, Viscount Petero Derise, whose eyes would turn bloodshot at the mere mention of such an event, would surely demand she prepare herself before he started swinging his whip.
And he would probably give her a pittance for the dress.
Telling her there was no money to buy a dress for a parasite, so she had to scrimp and save as much as possible to procure one herself.
It was an amount that wouldn’t even get her through the door of a famous salon.
So she would wear out her shoes searching for a merchant who sold dresses that noble ladies had worn last year or the year before at a cheap price. She would buy the one furthest from current fashion, remove any unnecessary embellishments, and alter it to look plain.
Fortunately, she had good hands and had never been caught out on an altered dress, but there had been a few times she had locked eyes with a noblewoman wearing a vaguely uncertain expression.
It was mortifying, but it was still better than attending a party in clothes made of fabric so poor even a merchant wouldn’t wear it, or showing up in a reused dress as it was.
Besides, Viscount Derise never stayed by his wife’s side anyway. He would go off to mingle with the debauchees he met at gatherings like the riding house or wherever else, and she only had to stay beside him until he left.
Once he was gone, she would usually take the carriage back to the estate first.
Then Viscount Derise would return late the next afternoon, reeking of thick women’s perfume, his face haggard, and sleep the entire day away.
After that, he wouldn’t bother her for at least a week, sometimes as long as a month or two.
So aside from the few hours spent fretting in a hideous dress, terrified that someone might recognize it, Evina didn’t really mind banquets all that much.
Again, the dress. It was always the damned dress that was the problem.
In that instant, Evina was suddenly jolted out of her thoughts and froze solid at the palm that flew against her cheek.
“…Vi-Viscount Derise?”
“You insolent b***h. Do you really not know why you’ve lived your whole life without being loved?”
He pressed his palm against her stinging cheek, shoved down on her frozen chest with his other hand, grabbed a fistful of her hair, and started moving his hips again.
“…Hhk!”
Her hair yanked back, she grimaced and choked back a breath.
“Spread your legs more.”
Her stiff legs slowly parted.
He lifted his sagging belly and twisted his hips to drive himself in deeper.
“Your husband is pounding you like this and you don’t even moan. You just stare at the ceiling with that stupid, stiff face. That’s why no one loves you. You need some charm, to know how to please people…”
He panted as he heaved his heavy body, still thrusting.
He liked prying open his dry young wife and didn’t care if she tore or bled.
“I said spread your legs!”
“…My lord, it hurts.”
“It’s always hard to take a big one. You don’t get wet, and my c**k is big enough to prod your belly, so there’s nothing to be done.”
Evina stayed silent.
She had no other men to compare him to, so she couldn’t say if he was lying or not. But given that his c**k never prodded anything and he sometimes couldn’t even get it in properly, she had her doubts.
“If it weren’t for your tight c**t, I would’ve kicked you out long ago. To think the Siollier family dared sell me such cheap goods…”
She had plenty to say on that point, but kept her mouth shut. Over three years of marriage, she’d learned that the more she talked back, the longer her time with him became.
It was better to stay silent, even when things felt unfair and infuriating.
Time with Viscount Derise was nothing but a curse to her. Pure misery.
She just prayed and prayed in her heart for this disgusting act to end.
Viscount Derise let go of her chest and grabbed her slender throat instead. He heaved his fleshy body up, kept his grip tight around her neck, and started moving again.
