Chapter 114 🔞
Asta gritted his teeth and squeezed his hand on Izzen’s neck even tighter. His windpipe should have been blocked by now, and he should have been in agony. He should have been struggling to breathe.
And yet, Izzen still wore a mocking expression. He seemed so composed that Asta even wondered if he had become a body that couldn’t feel pain, even though he knew it wasn’t possible. But looking at his pale face, his slightly trembling lips, and the cold sweat running down his forehead, that didn’t seem to be the case.
Asta frowned, unable to understand.
“Why are you acting so unlike yourself, Izzen? Do you want to act cool in front of that magical girl so badly? For what reason? You like to act cool, but you’ve never been reckless for it. You always avoided fights you thought you would lose. Instead, you worked in the shadows, didn’t you? Isn’t that your way?”
“Cough!”
As Asta put more pressure on his hand, Izzen’s face, which had been struggling to smile, gradually twisted in pain. It seemed his act of composure had reached its limit. He coughed repeatedly as if he couldn’t breathe properly and seemed to be about to lose consciousness. Each time he coughed, blood spattered everywhere. Soon, a gush of blood poured out and trickled down his chin.
“Was that so…….”
Izzen barely mumbled those words between the breaths he took with difficulty after spitting out blood. He looked somewhat mournful.
But soon he smiled again. He raised the corners of his mouth and smiled as wide as he could.
Asta frowned again at that smile. At first, he thought it was a laugh of resignation, but what was on his face was a clear sneer. Izzen was truly mocking him right now.
“Then I’m being myself, after all.”
Is he crazy? At Izzen’s words, Asta asked, genuinely puzzled,
“What in the world are you doing right now?”
Izzen opened his trembling lips and said,
“Stalling.”
“What?”
The next moment, Asta froze.
It was behind him. He could feel a presence with a taut murderous intent right behind his back. A terrifying murderous aura that made him lose all thought of turning around, and an overwhelmingly powerful magical presence.
Since when?
Izzen smiled again, looking at Asta’s stunned face.
“Like you said, I’m a weakling and a coward. Do you think I would come alone to a fight with no chance of winning and no plan?”
Along with his words, the sound of a sword being swung cut through the air.
The blade of a sword touched the top of Asta’s head.
And that was the end.
The sword was swung vertically from there to the bottom, cutting Asta in half. Asta, who was split perfectly in two, slowly separated and fell to the ground in two halves. The cleanly cut cross-section of the beast was visible for a moment before it crumpled and fell apart. It instantly twisted and poured onto the floor, like a stuffed animal with its stuffing ripped out.
“Gasp!”
Heesu, who had a weak stomach, hastily covered her mouth and swallowed her nausea and scream.
It was a scene that would normally only appear in a gore film, one she would never even think of watching. It was a scene where she would have already changed the channel or covered her eyes with her hands if she had unexpectedly come across it in a movie she was watching without knowing.
But Heesu couldn’t take her eyes off the scene.
It wasn’t because her tied hands prevented her from covering her eyes.
It was because she couldn’t take her eyes off it. Because she couldn’t believe what she was seeing.
Asta, who had been so strong, was killed with just a single swing of a sword. He was cut in half as easily as tofu is cut with a knife and died in a truly gruesome way.
But what was truly unbelievable was…….
Heesu looked at his back with a stunned expression.
He had just sliced someone in two, but the long, pitch-black blade of the sword had no blood on it. Standing there, holding a weapon that looked like something out of a video game, was a young man with a familiar, handsome physique and dressed entirely in black.
She wanted to believe that she must have seen wrong for a moment, but…….
“You foolish and clumsy brat.”
The voice she heard was so familiar. The way he chided her was also familiar.
“I told you to stop watching magical girl shows so much, Lee Heesu.”
He turned his back and looked at Heesu. He glared at Heesu and gritted his teeth. Even that expression was disgustingly familiar to Heesu.
That face, so annoyingly familiar.
It was Heesu’s younger brother, Lee Jaeha.
