Chapter 133
“Ha…….”
Heesu, staring into space, let out a sigh. It was because she felt somewhat blank after laughing her head off. As the joy of Rufus being revived and the excitement of learning Jaeha’s identity subsided, a heavy burden settled somewhere in her chest again.
The sight of Jin-ah and the women being murdered right in front of her wouldn’t go away. She had wanted to save someone in trouble, like a magical girl should, but she couldn’t. She had only cried powerlessly. And…….
“I don’t know what I did to be laughing so much.”
Heesu, whose heart felt heavy with a sense of guilt, let out those words without realizing it. It was a self-reproachful tone.
Jaeha’s expression hardened upon hearing her, and Izzen’s face also darkened. Having gone through such an experience, the shock must have been great. In fact, it was even more concerning that Heesu seemed to be trying to act as if nothing had happened. That type of person was more likely to have a deeper and longer-lasting trauma.
“It is not your fault, Miss Heesu. Asta was the bad one.”
Izzen spoke softly, but Heesu’s expression did not brighten easily.
“Defeating that bad guy is what a magical girl is supposed to do. No, well. I wasn’t a proper magical girl to begin with anyway. I was just acting rashly, not knowing my place, to try and save Jin-ah, and I caused all this trouble, so I feel bad for everyone and even for you, Izzen. If it were Jaeha, he wouldn’t have… in that situation…….”
“No, if it were Lord Jaeha, he wouldn’t have even thought about saving them in the first place.”
Izzen cut off Heesu’s words and continued with a firm voice.
“Don’t compare yourself like that and belittle yourself. You, Miss Heesu, have things that only you can do. For instance, Lord Jaeha is strong in a fight, but he cannot capture the hearts of demons and make them truly on our side like you can. Even if you are not strong, you are doing something valuable and playing an important role just by being yourself. The faces of the demons who are with you are proof of that. Everything has meaning. Try to remember each of them.”
“…Huh…….”
Heesu was a little flustered as she hadn’t expected Izzen to comfort her. Blinking in confusion, she recalled the faces of the demons who were her subordinates. Violen’s face, Rufus’s face, Edstan’s face, Alburn’s face…… all those handsome, beautiful, and cool faces that were second to none.
Heesu soon nodded with great understanding.
“You’re right! There is a meaning to it!”
“That’s right. There is a meaning to it.”
At Heesu’s realization, Izzen also nodded in strong agreement. Although the meaning of the faces they were thinking of was subtly different, since their intentions aligned, the conclusion was all the same.
“But…….”
Heesu only then remembered what she had forgotten and looked around.
“Where are those faces right now?”

Violen was not in a good mood.
While he was searching for Heesu all night, he felt like he was struggling in a gutter even as he ran. Now that he knew Heesu was safe, he should have felt the joy and relief of being pulled out of that gutter.
But even though he had finally gotten out of the gutter and placed his feet on solid ground, he was still covered in filth, garbage, and all sorts of other unidentifiable things. His body was soaked with dirty black water, and with every step he took, a dark black footprint was left on the ground, leaving a deep trail.
Just then, the scorching sun caused the black footprints to dry up like an eternal mark that would never be erased, and his body, stained with black water, also hardened like a statue. That’s exactly how he felt.
“It’s been a while.”
Izzen, who had been walking beside him in silence, said. Violen glanced at him.
He had been surprised inwardly at Izzen’s mangled state when he had arrived as a cat and then transformed into a human, but Violen didn’t ask about or point out his condition. He could guess the reason without asking. So he didn’t ask why Izzen had been sent on an errand in such a state.
However, it was the first time the two of them had met since that day. There was something they had to talk about.
“I never thought you’d send the money.”
At Violen’s words, which were half-sincere and half-sarcastic, Izzen unexpectedly chuckled.
“And I never thought you’d be so serious about killing me.”
“And I never thought you’d transform into a cat and run away at that moment.”
When Violen tried to be sarcastic again as a test, Izzen finally gave him a cool look.
“You failed, so will you try again someday?”
Violen, who had been lost in thought for a moment, slowly shook his head.
“No.”
He had to admit what he had to admit.
